Back to back All Ireland's

(Oldest Posts First)

First thing is I must say congratulations to Dublin and their supporters on doing four in a row
Let's face it it's only the last four years or so that they have started getting success again
As everybody knows they had a lot of bleak years and , like ourselves suffered a lot of heavy defeats during that time
But right now they are at the top of the tree and will probably add a good few more titles to their haul.
Now the one thing nobody has come up with ---- can they do TWO ALL IRELANDS in a row
Go back two years ago and on here posters were talking about 4 -- 5 or even more All IRELANDS in a row
That has not happened and to me if they do Two in a row it will be still a great achievement , they could even do more than two but history tells us it's very hard to defend the title as in 30 years only Cork Kerry and Meath( where are they gone to?) have succeeded doing two in a row
It seems highly likely that this team will do two in a row and most posters think likewise but similar sentiments were expressed during the summer of 2014 until the arrival of the Donegal bandwagon in August 2014. To me if Donegal had not won that day Dublin would have been going for Four in a row with the historic FIVE COMING RIGHT BEHIND.
Looking at things Dublin are in a great position to do Two in a row yet I can see at least one team( ON THE DAY) putting it up to them and let's not forget that the three All IRELANDS they won have only been won by small margins

Good post sam. The hysterics on various social media and worse still, from respected journalists re Dublin dominance is farcical.

It will be extremely difficult Sam.
I definetly think that there are 2/3 teams that are capable on any day of beating any team. A lot of the more knowledgeable football supporters are well aware of this no matter what you might read in newspapers or online.

Exactly. Dublin are a formidable team, one of the best I've seen and I'd go so far as to say that which ever team does manage to beat them this year should go on to be AI champions.

But at the end of the day they're human and a well drilled, fit team that has belief in themselves can beat them on any given day. It might only happen once or twice out of ten but it can happen. The alternative seems to be to moan and cry all day long about their resources etc. F*** that! Why not just hand them the bloody thing now if that's the attitude? Commit Focus Believe and Achieve!! It can be done! Not easily but nothing worthwhile in life is easy.

If any team is capable of doing back to back AIs, it's probably this Dublin team. Does that mean it will definitely happen? No. Despite the hysterics in the media that would lead you to believe that there's no point in even having a competition this year, every team is beatable on any given day. Dublin should be able to do it, but that doesn't mean they will.

I think winning them is very difficult, to maintain that hunger is the killer, its really the calling card of a great team and i dont think teams are remebered as such without doing it. I certainly think its the one thing this Dublin tema havnt acheived yet, which spices up this championship up for me no end.

The hype when we win is as outrageous as the criticism we received in the past when we lost ,
To the matter in hand dealing with the facts there is no reason to suspect we cant do it , but Im not fooled by large margin wins in the last ten minutes , J Small on the line prior to Alan Brogans point is still clear as day in my head , small things go against you a black card, silly red card, penalty , injury to crucial players etc I confidently believe in a league format we are the best , in a once off game we can be beat , another reason for optimism is the question marks v all our opponents , but come summer winner takes all who knows what may happen

Well I have alot of time for Dublin GAA and Im glad to see that our games are doing so well in the capital, so please dont accuse me of cute hoorism or whatever, but i really dont see anyone stopping them.
Theyre fantastic footballers, but even without that their sheer athleticism is almost impossible to live with.
the only thing that might harm them, as UM said, is their hunger levels, but I like what I see in them. they look very good so far.
Theyll certainly make it to the semis anyway.
