Kerry have won their relegation play-off against Laois. Kerry remain in 1B for another year. Laois take on Division 2A champions Westmeath next in a relegation/promotion play-off. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 02/04/2016 18:32:37 1840571 Link 0 |

Well done to the Kingdom hurlers, get into Munster next year you could win it LOL. Brian_Coyote (Antrim) - Posts: 346 - 02/04/2016 18:58:28 1840578 Link 0 |
Of course, the odd thing about the Leinster round robin is that the winner's "reward" is to get hammered by Galway, whereas the runner-up has a winnable QF with (once again) Laois. I'm not saying that either Kerry or Offaly would be going out at anything less than 100%, but something to watch out for next month. anciarraioch82 (Kerry) - Posts: 33 - 02/04/2016 19:39:50 1840587 Link 0 |
Super win for Kerry. And the style which they appear to have won in, really cements them as a 1b team. I know league and championship are very different, but its hard not to look at the provincial qualifer group in a fresh light after the league. There is no-one in the group that Kerry should feel they can't beat, especially after their win over Offaly. That group is quickly becoming one of the most interesting parts of the championship, I hope some of the games are televised this year. In 1A and 1B , the only teams that are safe from relegation are the best two teams in 1B. Any team in 1A can finish outside the top 4 and face a relegation final. Galway or Cork and Limerick will not finish below 3rd at worst in 1B. These relegation finals are wrong. The bottom team should be relegated and that should be the end of it. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 02/04/2016 19:49:14 1840591 Link 0 |

I saw no reason why Kerry wouldn't repeat their earlier defeat of Laois.Excellent campaign by the squad.Laois looked to be building a nice team under Cheddar, but i always felt they were a long way off the elite teams(even if they did give Galway a couple of championship scares). cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 02/04/2016 21:04:20 1840621 Link 0 |
The flawed system gives Laois a chance to save their bacon. Laois can still turn things around ahead of the championship. Beat Westmeath and win their provincial quarter-final, their year will look a bit better. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 02/04/2016 21:28:50 1840634 Link 0 |
Should be in the Munster championship at this rate. But I think the others must be afraid that they could shock one of them or make their championship look bad with 1 lop-sided game.....take your pick which.... Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 03/04/2016 09:57:41 1840668 Link 0 |
Jaysus they looked like Kilkenny yesterday!! A brilliant display. Beautiful hurling as good as I've ever seen them play. Really proud of all of them. Couldn't have believed how well they've accuited themselves this year. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 03/04/2016 10:37:15 1840686 Link 0 |
Not sure about that Pinkie.Great league campaign by the Kerry hurlers but can they keep their standards up.Laois were riding the crest of a wave a couple of years back but have slipped alarmingly.I know Cheddar lost players but its like one step forward two steps back.I will watch Kerrys progression with interest but they are miles off the likes of Kilkenny & Tipp imo. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 03/04/2016 11:13:55 1840706 Link 0 |

If Kerry had lost yesterday, it would not have been the end of the world. Westmeath remained in 2A last year and yet finished in the top 2 of the qualifier group. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 03/04/2016 13:16:39 1840768 Link 0 |

I think the GAA are right to cross that bridge if it comes to it. At the moment Kerry could be heading back to the Ring. Carlow and Westmeath will be tough opponents. Lets just see how the current system works first. If Kerry win a game in the Leinster championship proper, it would be the time to look at a change. For, I would just wait to see what develops on the field of play. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 7758 - 03/04/2016 19:23:31 1841065 Link 0 |
great stuff by the Kerry hurlers these past few years the system that is in place in the league is some farce RE; promotion/relegation in sharp contrast to the championship which IMO is perfect a gradual step up in class thru the rounds I think it would take Kerry 5/6 years to make it back into the munster champ as all of those teams would most likely give us serious hidings, as would Kilkenny galway etc. something the football championship should look at coopersleftfoot (Kerry) - Posts: 91 - 06/04/2016 11:21:07 1842484 Link 0 |
Yeah not a big fan of the system in place even though we benefited from it in the past - it's wrong where you finish bottom (and lose all your league games), lose one relegation playoff then get a win against the winners of the next Division and stay up. I know there is the argument that if the winners of the next Division are ready for the step up they would beat the other team but they should get a chance of letting their results the next season determine if they are ready for the step up. The team in the relegation playoff against them has proven that they are not at the standard by virtue of the fact they are in the playoff.
