With all respect I wont comment on others but hold your horses on Galway. A long way to go yet, but hopefully we can start off with a win on Sunday. Belclare1 (Galway) - Posts: 1626 - 28/01/2016 11:21:32 1819950 Link 0 |

Belclare, always a great man for the passive aggressive dig at ourselves. We get it, you don't like Mayo. No need to fill every post with veiled references to it, it is tiresome. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 28/01/2016 11:43:17 1819961 Link 0 |
I wouldn't be too hopeful about Derry & Cork.Have seen very little to start bigging up their chances. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 28/01/2016 12:00:19 1819964 Link 0 |
Having seem they twice in the last month I do think Derry under the management of Barton are heading in the right direction and they could get promoted to Division 1. In the championship the clash with Tyrone at Celtic Park will be one of the ties of the provincial championships and they could be facing an early exit into the back door. No disrespect to Kerry or Dublin but Gaelic football needs one of these teams to win SAM to reinvigorate the sport. The rise of Galway. Kildare, Tyrone and Armagh in the late 90's and early 00's was brilliant for the sport as was Cork's win a few years back. I can see the roots of good Derry and Tyrone teams coming through again as both seem to have got back the hunger which is so important at the top level. Damian Barton is a winner who doesn't suffer fools and his players will be in no doubt what is required. Tyrone have an excellent blend of youth and experience and they are back in the Dublin/Kerry/Mayo bracket again. They seem to be putting more emphasis on their own game and they are definately more effective when they just play football. It could be a decent season ahead. Lad's if ye are placing yer money on Cork to do anything in any given year you are on dangerous ground. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 28/01/2016 13:37:21 1820018 Link 0 |

I wouldn't put counterfeit money on Cork to beat Kerry.A very,very perilous financial transaction. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 28/01/2016 14:06:19 1820034 Link 0 |
How can 3 teams dominate one year? Personally I think Tyrone will come through Ulster and give Mayo one hell of a battle in the AI semi-final. It's hard to see anyone but Kerry and Dublin playing in the other semi. Mickmick (Dublin) - Posts: 104 - 28/01/2016 14:17:01 1820039 Link 0 |
I'd hold off with the dominate bit. would agree with Ulsterman's post about Derry and especially Tyrone. Cork good on the "soft ground" Galway have the stuff but the jury is still out on them mhunicean_abu (Monaghan) - Posts: 1042 - 28/01/2016 14:23:09 1820042 Link 0 |

The league can be a bit of a lottery with understrength teams (as players are slowly phased back in after injuries) and the liklihood of heavy grounds and un-helpful weather conditions. Dublin will probably coast through D1 with perhaps Monaghan giving it a go also. I feel that the rest will be just happy to try to survive in the division and get their teams right for the c'ship. I fancy Derry to make their usual strong showing in the league and to take D2. They should make the perfect start at home against a Fermanagh team reportedly missing a number of star men. Second place should go to whoever most feels they are ready for D1 football. Divisions 3 and 4 are too difficult to call until after the early rounds are played. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 28/01/2016 15:07:59 1820067 Link 0 |

Galway won't be anywhere near the top this year (Kerry, Dublin, Tyrone, Mayo, Donegal, Cork, Monaghon in that order). Usual suspects with Dublin & Kerry to the fore. Roscommon & Derry are only team outside that who could upset the apple cart a bit. Mayo have outside shot if we can get all our players fit for August/Sept. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 28/01/2016 17:15:04 1820115 Link 0 |
