Is that article on the front page for real? Crying about not getting a few more thousand? Did they want a private jet for the end of year holiday or what? redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 08/12/2015 09:45:29 1811909 Link 0 |

Costello makes a fair point I think. Without Dublin playing games in Croke Park they and businesses in Drumcondra and the rest of Dublin would be a lot worse off. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7335 - 08/12/2015 10:04:55 1811916 Link 0 |
Private jet would do just fine.We could save on the pilot costs as our own leader,Jim Gavin, can get behind the wheel and fly us anywhere around the globe. Is there anything we can't do? cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 08/12/2015 10:47:00 1811929 Link 0 |
Croke park stadium Which is a seperate Company need scrutinising closely. They get away with a lot. Provided with top class entertainers who have made considerable personal sacrifice without salary ,fee or payment. Do the executives then get highly remunerated for the profits they 'make'. It is not too much to ask that an amount equivalent to what players would get if professional was paid from croke park stadium to team holiday funds. After all the crowd come to see the players not the well suited up men. Mayo, Kerry and Tyrone would have overnighted in hotels before their semi finals. Dublin sleep in their own beds. Hotel beds in Dublin in August don't come cheap. John Costelloe has a point about players filling Croke Park. Which county holidays does he expect Croke Park to finance ? Those of the counties who reach the later stages of the championship ? Those are generally successful counties who can generate substantial income streams themselves. Surely if he expects Croke Park to provide finance for a Dublin team holiday he would be amenable to the idea of Croke Park providing finance for team holidays for the weaker, less successful counties. A lot of the weaker are out training now. John Costelloe is bang on the money when he talks about Sigerson Cup football as opposed to U 21 football. Nah not for me. Dublin have plenty to cover their own holiday, use the money somewhere where it is actually needed. It appears there are a few scrooges in this piece. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 08/12/2015 11:21:46 1811942 Link 0 |

Typical Master , the fella spends all his time spouting on about fairness and equality and boy does he go on , yet on this occasion Dublin should be treated differently , double standards you couldn't make it up , Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 08/12/2015 12:35:08 1811972 Link 0 |

Dublin blow everyone away in terms of money from the GAA, corporate sponsorship, and gates for obvious reason. If they want to play away on their own then work away but eventually it will have to be the case that the playing field is levelled. The smallest counties should be getting the most money from the GAA/Croke park or wherever and guided into how to use it the best. redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 08/12/2015 13:42:13 1811992 Link 0 |
Before talking about Dublin V Other Counties. Any opinions about what Croke Park Stadium should be contributing to whatever County teams bring crowds there?. How much was Garth Brooks going to get? Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 518 - 08/12/2015 13:42:58 1811993 Link 0 |
To be fair to John Costelloe it's very hard to argue with his view in relation to this matter. No doubt the Dubs could easily survive without these grants as they are by far the most lucrative set-up in the country. But I find it astonishing that their reward for contributing towards another sell out for AI semi replay is a paltry €5k. On the back of this replay Croke Park generated an extra €2m in gate receipts and decide to give the Dubs an extra €5k towards their holiday fund? Not sure what Mayo got but I would imagine it was significantly more because if not they should have been up in arms about it. Greenwood (Meath) - Posts: 210 - 08/12/2015 13:50:50 1812000 Link 0 |

Alternatively if felt teams bringing crowds don't deserve more than other teams(Communist approach), How much should the stadium pass onto GPA for redistribution? redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 08/12/2015 14:08:40 1812005 Link 0 |
