Would Jimmy have won sam without Gallagher?

(Oldest Posts First)

After McGuinness/Gallagher fallout in my own view it seems McGuinness couldn't handle Gallagher work behind the scenes. Would Donegal have won sam without Rory Gallagher input?

Impossible to say. McGuinness was the catalyst in bringing the whole thing together. One thing's for sure, Donegal wouldn't have won anything without McGuinness.

Would Rory Gallagher have the profile he has now if Jim didn't pick him as a selector? No

WOuld this even be up for discussion if McGuinness hadn't been talking about Gallagher in this book. Surely the best thing would have been to talk to him in private.

Would Donegal have won an All Ireland without Rory Gallagher? Possibly

Would Donegal have won an All Ireland without Jim McGuinness? Not a chance.

Jim would have won it without him, that is my opinion. I just find it crazy that anyone would doubt him and try and give Gallagher over the top credit. Only this year the media and people were lauding Gallagher and saying he may have Donegal in even better shape and better tactically than under Jim after a couple of Ulster games, we know how that ended. Gallagher deserves credit but Jim was the man.

I think the panel of 30-35 players might have had a slight impact on the Sam win too to be honest.

Please close thread.

No one individual wins an All-Ireland or indeed a county final- It usually takes a team /panel consisting of 15 to 30 players plus a management team- team being important aspect here.
