Club Hurling Matches

Just looking at the fixtures and looking for some insight

Sixmilebridge Vs Na Piarsaigh

Tough one to call but Im siding with Na Piarsaigh in this one. They seem to have any amount of Limerick Seniors and U21s. Sixmilebridge have a few young guns of their own but seem to be relying on the experience of 39yr old Niall gilligan to get them over the line in matches. Don't think that can last and the greater quality of the limerick lads to get through this.

Cushendall Vs Slaughneil

I fancy Cushendall here to be honest, They have come through the hard way beating Loughgiel and coming from behind to beat Ballycastle and middletown in Ulster convincingly. Just read a few past reports and they seem to have lads back from injury. Think they'll make amends for last years defeat to Portaferry

O'Loughlin Gaels Vs Clara

Im fancy the underdog to come out of this in O'Loughlins. Even though Clara accounted for Ballyhale, the city club will be fresh and will have prepared well.

Thurles Sarsfields Vs Nenagh Eire Og

Can't call this. Thurles will win if they show up but they seem to get very watery around this time of year. Nenagh will be very hungry for the win. Not sure

I also fancy Na Piarsaigh against the bridge but it will by tighter than it was in 2013. The Bridge may not have many on the county panel but they have been very successful in Clare in underage in the last 10 years. They depend on Gilligan mostly for frees and he normally doesn't contribute a huge amount from play. Downes and Dowling will be crucial I would expect More to try use his pace on Dowling. They can't let Fitzpatrick mark him like they did in parts of 2013 as he is too slow over first few yards. Breen being injured will increase the chances for the Bridge along with home advantage.

In Tipp I would also fancy Thurles if they show up they are the better side with the better players and would expect them to win by 3+

In Kilkenny not many expected O Loughlin Galls to make the final. They had a huge win against Ballyhale But that was a Ballyhale team that had a few lads on the county panel who had been going non stop for over a year and tiredness must be considered. I think I fancy Clara in this I just feel they are a better team with no superstars and a very close knit group.

I can't really comment on the game in Ulster as I don't no enough about either side if I had to predict a team it would be Cushendall mostly based on they should be a fresher team and the club has been and won Ulster Finals in the past and they beat a good Loughiel side en route.

Cushendall won today in an epic encounter before a fantastic crowd.... After finding it difficult to overcome Middletown, the Dall were the better team even if it did go to extra time.....

There are games....but I'm very lucky to have attendened not only the best game in the Athletic grounds this yr... but one of the best games played anywhere this yr..... well done both clubs.... pitty RTE radio didn't realise this!!!

Well said Cuchullain. An epic encounter from 2 fantastic teams, before a large passionate crowd. Long time since I encountered such an outstanding match.

Good win by na Piarsigh and without david breen! theyve won two munsters in recent years and will be aiming high this year and its a good year to do so with traditional powers like portumna and ballyhale out of their respective counties. Thurlas sarsfields are going to pose a massive test but Na Piarsigh have a lot of experience at this level to draw on and the most impressive thing ive seen with them is they don't panic when behind, case in point county final and SMB match..
