Any chance Keith Higgins would focus on hurling?

The bloke seems like a talented hurler. I wonder when he comes towards the end in football would he focus solely on the hurling for a year or two? I think a player like this focusing full time on hurling could make a big difference.

He's the best hurler in Connacht outside Galway, with a bit of work maybe good enough to make the Galway team. I don't know enough about hurling to rate him properly. He's from my hometown of Ballyhaunis. Unfortunately I don't think two years of dedicated hurling from Keith will make Mayo or Ballyhaunis competitive with Galway team or clubs.

Think I remember hearing him say in an interview that he would like to spend some time with the hurlers so not beyond the realms of possibility and seems to be a handy enough hurler.

I think he would be very foolish to do so. I think he should and will continue to play with Mayo footballers. Mayo are a top football team and have an excellent chance of winning an All-Ireland before Keith Higgins is no longer required by Mayo footballers and that is the place he will want to be should Mayo win that elusive All-Ireland.

Why doesn't he tog out for Galway in the hurling and give it a go his old man is from Galway so why not? Keep with the Mayo footballers obviously but it would be great to see how he would get on playing hurling at the top level.

A very talented hurler. Pity players like him don't get the chance to play at top level.

If he transferred to Galway. he have better chance winning all ireland football medals. Galway have better forwards

Doesn't matter too much if your backs are conceding a succession of tap-over frees in front of the posts.

I think that this is against the rules, given that Mayo have an inter-county hurling team. Probably the only place you could have gotten away with such a move recently was Kilkenny, and even they've started competing in the junior championship, so it's less likely now.

He'll never hurl for Galway. I asked his brother Pierce about it years ago. They're not from Mayo. I'm sure Declan Browne could have had offers to play for other counties but he didn't because Tipperary is the county he loves.
