Relax lads, if there is no confidence in the management and they have had a civilised discussion with the players they will probably walk away themselves. Nothing near the Cork Hurling scenario. The players held a meeting with a secret ballot, it ended up as a negative vote for the management and Higgins and COC met with the managers to discuss it, that is all we know. The Jimmy McGuinness for Mayo campaign has kicked off on twitter... Think the players will want a return of James Horan and his caps. roundball (Tipperary) - Posts: 2514 - 29/09/2015 10:37:00 1793425 Link 0 |
We can only guess at present, but if it isn't right then it isn't right. You have to put faith in the group and there are some very experienced people involved in it. The players held their council until after the AI was done and dusted, they have picked the best time to act, they done it in the right manner, let's hope the rest plays out in the same vein and this will be resolved properly. Still though, having the lunatics running the asylum isn't a great policy. And what of the next chap(s) to come in after Connelly and Holmes? No pressure like. Bad timing McStay taking the Rossies job, although I dunno, who would the Mayo lads on here like to see take over? Gavvygavgav (Dublin) - Posts: 382 - 29/09/2015 10:48:37 1793436 Link 0 |
Bit odd considering the amount of time James Horan got.. In reality they got just as close to an all ireland as horan considering they never looked liked winning the 2 finals they got into AthCliath87 (Dublin) - Posts: 345 - 29/09/2015 10:57:35 1793441 Link 0 |

All the experts and know it all's will be out in force now. What I have been told is the players have indeed voted against management with only 6/7 player voting for them. We heard rumblings earlier in year that standards in training/preparation/tactics had dropped but again I can not verify this and neither can anyone else...I suppose as you say no smoke without fire but most counties probably have the odd rumor flying around at some stage during the year. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 29/09/2015 11:00:11 1793444 Link 0 |

I feel sorry for Noel and Pat who have been great servants to Mayo football. They will probably need to walk away quietly. Who do we get next is the big question/problem. Yew_Tree its not just who you get but also under what circumstances , player power can be a very volatile thing , without a doubt the pressure on next coach is savage . Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 29/09/2015 11:12:29 1793457 Link 0 |

It's been coming for a while. Management team are not up to it in the players view. God knows how the county board will react. pdempsey (Mayo) - Posts: 1313 - 29/09/2015 11:23:03 1793470 Link 0 |

Its a shame the players didn't use their power to place the ball in the net more often. worple (Roscommon) - Posts: 339 - 29/09/2015 11:29:31 1793479 Link 0 |
Damothedub - There was a good few fans against the management from the way they were appointed. Look back on any Mayo forum and you will see that. Look I feel for the players I really do, they are putting in the effort and crave the All Ireland like us fans here. I also know one of the joint managers and know they have what is best for Mayo at heart. It is a bad situation but I am sure the players will have weighed up all the scenarios as lets face it they are a highly driven smart bunch not a bunch of u-16's pissed off with their coach. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 29/09/2015 11:30:10 1793481 Link 0 |
