As well known on here i have great admiration for Eamon Fitzmaurice. He has the potential to be greatest manager with this pool of players. Unbeating in championship in 2 years and unbeaten in 11 championship. He is nearing Micko of 18 unbeaten games. Fitzmaurice has impressive record of winning losing only 1 game in 16 championship. He has thirteen drew two and only lost one game Stato32 (Clare) - Posts: 73 - 15/09/2015 22:00:39 1787980 Link 0 |
I very much doubt EF is all that bothered. Tradition only means something to him if it can be used to secure the desired result: winning may not be everything, but it is the challenge which clearly inspires him. plike (Kerry) - Posts: 569 - 16/09/2015 08:05:47 1787981 Link 0 |
I believe that Jim's record is better. Beaten once in the championship in 3 years. 3 league titles in a row, 3 Delaney Cups in a row and all with a relatively young squad. If the form keeps up and we keep producing decent U21s, Gavin could enter the history books over the next 10 years. I think Fitzy inherited a battle hardened group of veterans. It's hard to see major success beyond the reirement of their older pivotal players, Gooch, DOS, Sheehan, O'Se, Donaghy etc. but who knows. In this day and age its difficult to rate a manager.Dublin have so many coaches and have put in a lot of money at underage that its very difficult to compare Gavin to the best Dublin managers of the past.Kerry likewise, they get a lot of money from Kerry Group and have full time coaches in certain aspects that its difficult to judge a manager.Would the majority of managers in Kerry do an awful lot worse than Fitz? You have to rememeber to,that the Kerry players are very smart and clever in real game time, that helps any manager. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 16/09/2015 09:00:00 1787993 Link 0 |

Back to back finals. Not bad for someone managing a team in transition. Superglue (Kerry) - Posts: 1283 - 21/09/2015 10:16:35 1789909 Link 0 |
As O'Rourke said at half time, it's easy to look like a tactical genius when your players are winning the individual battles. Trouble for Kerry yesterday, is that none of them were, so it didn't matter what tactics you tried, they were going to be on a loser. moylagh (Meath) - Posts: 484 - 21/09/2015 10:19:54 1789913 Link 0 |
Think EF was shown to be very average yesterday.Easy to call someone a genius when things are going well for you and yesterday he got a lot wrong.Gavin out foxed him and should be commended for sticking to his philosophy and playing the game the way Dublin do.
