Philly Mc Mahon

Its curious as to why there has been no media outcry over his dive and feigning injury, no 20 odd page thread, no outcry from O Rourke, no bringing the game into disrepute, no claims of the game being ruined by this and he must be made an example off, no talk of it ruining the game we all love, no calls for a ban for diving etc etc

Some of the comments on that thread made interesting reading in the light of last sunday to say the least!

maybe it's because he took an actual smack to the head from Aidan O'Shea's LEFT hand, and there was no feigning injury at all.

Watch it again. O'Shea knew exactly what he was doing. Who flings thir forearms out like that. He's a cute hoor.

Even Ciaran Whelan said he dived and feigned injury

He didn't feign injury IMO - Philly is a hard man anyone who knows him knows he is not in a cowardly player, he is a proud honourable dub. Those that don't know him will say differently and that is their opinion. People see what they want too. The head butting claims were way off the mark and disgraceful, McStay in particular was far to quick to point the finger. I don't see him feigning an injury - if he wanted to do that he could have done it an awful lot better than they way it was done.

Gav there was no smack he pretended he was hurt, end of. Trying to say otherwise is pointless

A bit embarrassing, but was probably revenge for o sheas imaginary 'headbutt' incident, mayo dragged us down to their miserable level, and we were thick enough to follow.
Why no outcry? It happens all the time in football, in every natch, and it will only get worse till it gets stamped out through severe retrospective action. The real question is why was McCann singled out so vehemently when it's so rampant, and I think it comes from rte sulking over the Tyrone media ban.

Arock, he dived. He sledged all day. He hit Colm Boyle twice when the Mayo penalty was given. He dived holding his head in a nothing incident . Call it as it is.

To be quite honest im quite happy not to see more being made of it. Sh1t happens and you move on.

But it is curious as to why the same approach wasnt taken to the Mc Cann incident, that thread makes for some very interesting reading with quite foreceful opinions on this kind of thing yet, not a peep on this!

Plus the fact there was no red card.

he didnt get a man sent off, he may have tried to get someone sent off but the fact Aidan O Shea didnt has diffused the dive

The contrast in which the Tiernan McCann and the Philly McMahon diving affairs affairs were treated in the media beggars belief. McCann was vilified, McMahon's dive has barely registered in the media in comparison.

To be honest, the guy was guilty of so much in the game, the feigning injury got lost in the furore. He actually feigned injury again to kill the game after mayo equalised. He sat down for over a minute getting 'treatment' on his leg, then ran out full pelt and beat freeman to a ball a few seconds later.
