Why no replays on the big Screens?

(Oldest Posts First)

Does anyone know WHY THE REPLAYS are not showen on the Big Screens. It's so annoying looking at Super Valu adds when all you want to do is see what just happened. You can see it at home so what's the story???

To avoid a riot in the stands. Controversial tackles or incidents are not shown on the big screens.

Replays were removed from the screens in Croke Park a couple of years ago so as not to insight the crowd were they to see that Jimmy did get a dig, or Jimmy should have been done for a square ball etc etc.
I recall two incidents when replays were shown and the crowd went absolute nuts...one being a Mattie Forde stamp a few years back and then Benny Coulter's goal against Kildare in the 2010 All Ireland semi-final - I distinctly remember that one becasue everyone knew that Benny was just short of pitching a tent in there and then when the replay was shown a certain Monaghan referee who was in charge could be seen looking at the replay and realising that he got the call wrong in allowing the goal to stand.
I can understand the GAA's decision to a degree but in rugby replays are shown of all/most incidents??

Yes, I think it introduced after the Louth and Meath Leinster final.

To be fair the Kildare v Down game was one of the main reasons. Benny was in the square and Mcenaney missed it. It showed it on the big screen and fans weren't happy. Also Eamonn Callaghan took 8 steps in the same game for his goal and the big screen also showed this.

To be clear, only half the fans weren't happy. I was ecstatic !!

Why? Can you imagine Mayo Mick times whatever to have to be dealt with. One disgruntel man (or woman) funny, many disgruntled men (or women) not so funny. Anyway, that's what the highlights later are for when it's just the wife or cat has to put up with any giving out.

1996 All Ireland Final replay Meath v Mayo, when both teams decided to wave off a swarm of bees and wasps and starting kicking about like a herd of donkeys that ate a couple of bags of oats, the old big screen went blank and refused to show what was going on or what caused the bees and wasps to appear, 'twas the first time I saw that happening so now every time a player thinks of flattening the grass I expect the screen to show an ad

Silly question. This isn't rugby or soccer where the ref can avail of the tmo. If its controversial, it needs to be blacked out so as to not influence the refs decision. As for causing a riot, there may be moans but that's the height of it. Only adds to the drama.
