Will the replay suit Kilkenny or Galway?

(Oldest Posts First)

The hype the football replay is going to generate menas that the media build up the AI hurling final is going to be much more low key than normal. Which team if either will this favour?

My opinion is that I don't think it will have the slightest bearing on either team's preparation for the match, nor on the result.

Wont make any difference to Kilkenny, but maybe the huge interest and media coverage in the football replay will deflect a bit of attention off the hurling final and this may be no bad thing for some of the young Galway lads like Whelan & Mannion.

Why should it help either? How could it?

I think it's a shame that the week leading up to hurling All-Ireland final is going to be overshadowed by the lead up to the football replay. I'm not denigrating football, it's more popular than hurling with the majority of people in Ireland and I'm looking forward to the replay. But, normally the whole country this week, in pubs and in work, would be talking and arguing about the pros and cons of Kilkenny and Galway.
As regards the players (hurling), this will probably be a benefit; they'll be less in the limelight.

Agree it is a shame that it seems to be over shadowing the hurling final, hope the pitch holds up!!

It only overshadows the hurling final for some people.....plenty more will let it fill the void until 3.30pm on Sunday!

Its a disgrace that the football will be played the night before the hurling in croke park. the match should be brought to thurles or the gaelic grounds like they did last year with the kerry mayo semi

No point bringing the replay to Thurles or Limerick as it was always gonna sell out Croker again. The replay last year was never gonna be a sellout so it actually worked out well, atmosphere-wise IMO.
