Another sell out? Did you get your ticket?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Seems a lot of people had trouble getting tickets for the replay. Tickets.ie kept crashing when people were in the middle of processing payments only to be advised their orders were not successful.

The GAA have since confirmed no more tickets will be available to be purchased online: 'The GAA can confirm that there will be no more public sales of tickets for Saturday's GAA Football All-Ireland Senior Championship Semi-Final replay between Dublin and Mayo with the remaining tickets available through the competing counties.'

Did anyone here have trouble getting tickets?

Will get tickets through the local GAA club, as per usual.

Am sure the organisation hates taking bandwagon money or enticing new customers to the game. They probably hate these types of games inviting so much interest.

I'll get mine through the club, but for one of the earlier Leinster matches I bought around 10 tickets in SuperValu for myself and a friends' families. I remember wondering at the time if there was a maximum number of tickets per customer you can buy for later matches.

Season Tickets sort out genuine supporters v band wagon

I really don't get comments like this.

First of all Dublin & Mayo season tickets sold out in 2012 so it's not like fans from either county can secure one of these to guarantee them tickets for this weekend's game.

Secondly, I believe between the 2 counties there are about 12-13k season tickets (maybe more but not many more). Does this mean that those 12k are the only 'genuine supporters' in Croke Park on the day and all other 70k are 'bandwagon' supporters?

CroiGorm well said. Also many people with families, work commitments, club commitments etc can not afford to travel to every single game

apparently supervalu and centra were allowing people by 20 tickets each
always thaught there was a limit to an amount one person could buy
as to stop touts getting large numbers of tickets

CroiGorm - i kind of agree on that. Also the selling of tickets by the likes of Super Value should not be allowed at this stage of championship for sell out games.
Also I know my club got bad tickets, while I know a lad who bought them in Super Value (would not go to many games) and got a great ticket in lower Hogan.
Clubs should be looked after first.
Myself, I have the season ticket which really earns its value at this stage of the year.

I agree with CroiGorm on this. What about us who are involved in our local clubs. Coaching and managing underage teams, carrying out work on the pitch and club house, fund raising etc, etc.......Are we not genuine supporters??

yew-tree. I agree with you regarding the sale of tickets in shops and the seating allocated for them. I do think it's unfair that someone who hasn't set foot in a stadium all year can walk in to a local shop and buy a ticket(s) that's better than the seats assigned to season ticket holders with a large % of attendance or club members that attend games regularly BUT that's the fault of the GAA/tickets.ie not the person buying the ticket. If they're happy to spend their money they're entitled to their ticket.

I actually have a season ticket myself and I'm on 93% attendance at the moment, last week I was in 705 Row W while a friend of mine bought tickets in Super Valu that were much better than mine. Don't get me wrong, I agree with the post above, not all people can attend games due to various reasons and that shouldn't stop them being able to get tickets for the big games BUT this individual in question hadn't been to a game all year just because she waits till the Championship - that frustrated the hell out of me!

20 tickets?! That is a disgrace. Nobody should be able to buy more than 2 adult tickets at a time. Also, what genius decided to allocate all the tickets to tickets.ie and none to ticketmaster, and thereby directing all the traffic to one website. Inspiring stuff...

Season ticket holder myself, but soent an hour and a half online trying to get tickets for family.. Got in Lower Hogan 324 row D, all was fine tickets reserved etc, put in card details and waited.. It took the system so long to process it that it crashed.. Had to leave work and go to Centra and ended up with four nosebleed tickets upper cusack.. And would still count myself as lucky, know huge amounts who got no e.. Tickets.ie are completely inept, always have been..
They also published stats saying 78% of ticket sales online were in Dublin, leaves a very partisan crowd, and a very unfair distribution!

Replay is not and will not be a sell out. There'll be a couple of thousand empty seats at least. Lot of people won't be able to go for various reasons. Don't believe the hype.

WRONG
they published stats saying 73% of the 73 thousand people who tryed to buy a ticket online
were from the dublin area, 25% from the rest of ireland and 3% from the london area
didnt say how many of them were successfull at all

also I dont agree with this sentiment that supervalu and centra and gaa.ie shouldnt be given tickets to sell
for this game, as all year they have been the main ticket distribution outlet
they have sold the bulk of tickets for games in league and championship
so they were clearly catering for people all year going to matches
so you can hardly class people who buy tickets through them sources as bandwagon supporters.
many clubs nationwide didnt even bother looking for ticket allocations across the country for games up until august.
so its completly unfair to suggest tickets should only go to clubs.
ticket limits however per person is where they should have had a set amount

You're right hill16, apologies, assumed that was the breakdown in where they went to! You would assume that the figures where the tickets went to would mirror those numbers though as it is open draw! You could add the 3% in London to Mayo's percentage though! You have to agree the system has to change though, no? Yesterday was a joke!
