Brogans point

Just wondering why there doesn't appear to be any discussion on this? It looked clearly wide. Why at least wasn't hawkeye called.

I thought the same thing at the time. Going by the replays, it wasn't even as if it went high and over the post, but dropped alongside the upright. But none of the Mayo players seemed to complain at the time, either.

I remember thinking it looked wide, but then the umpire gave it and seemed fairly certain. Hopefully it can be analysed properly and cleared up.

Was on the hill and i thought it was wide too.

Was shocked when the white flag went up.

Wouldn't be bothered with the analysing to be honest as what does it matter. You could probably find fault in the build up to a few scores on either side so would be a waste of time as doesn't matter diddly.

Bernard Brogan hit a high looping effort in the first half which seemed to go wide, judging by the TV replays. It was given by the umpires, and to be fair none of the Mayo players made a big deal about it at the time.

Look where it bounces behind the goal, of course it was a point. There is no possible way it could have gone wide and still bounced in that spot. Well done to the umpire for just calling it rather than wasting time on hawkeye. The fact Hennelly had no problem with it either should be enough proof.

I don't think it was wide. Just a bit deceiving from the camera angle. From where it bounces behind the goal it looks like it crept over the barn at the last minute. No argument from Hennelly either.

Looked wide to me too, the lack of protest ensured no Hawk Eye!

irrelevant as the game is over so no point in discussion but the fact that the mayo goal keeper was directly under the post and didnt wave it wide would lead me to believe it was a good point

If an incorrect call is made by an umpire the referee is alerted by hawk eye and he calls for it to be used. I would have no doubt it was a point.

McMenamin hopped the ball twice before his point early in the second half.
Not blaming him, just the ref for not spotting it or The Sunday Game guys.

No issue on it being a point. Hung in the air for an age. Keeper watched it all the way and it went straight over where he was standing. Keeper knew it was a point and just got on with the kick out.

Kev Mc did bounce it twice but ref had his hand raised for free in /advantage. Not sure why it let it go but either way a free under the post.

Good god, can't believe I am saying this but thank god for umpires, imagine depending on lads in the stands making marginal calls.
