It seems like very week we have fans and people in the media giving out about referees, principally alleging that bad officiating is altering the course of tight matches. Yesterday, the consensus was the Joe McQuillan didn't have one of his better days. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 31/08/2015 10:04:05 1778594 Link 0 |

Agree except for number 1. We have two linesmen. Let us call them assistant referees and give them a more active role. slayer (Limerick) - Posts: 6480 - 31/08/2015 10:28:37 1778645 Link 0 |
I can't see any reason not to have a TMO available. The Dublin penalty yesterday is a perfect example of something they could correct Count_Awesome (Kildare) - Posts: 736 - 31/08/2015 15:06:16 1779064 Link 0 |
You would have feel a little sympathy for the referee yesterday as it was almost impossible to ref that game with both teams intent on stopping each other. That said the first thing they need to do is get rid of the black card. It has now gone to a stage where the referees themselves are unsure of what is a black card offence. It is ruining games and making what is already an extremely difficult job even harder for the ref. Greenwood (Meath) - Posts: 210 - 31/08/2015 15:27:41 1779090 Link 0 |
I cant believe people are really calling for TMO to be introduced. Everyone on here last week was convinced Tyrone should have had a penalty, and that the Mayo penalty yesterday was a dive after watching numerous replays. Yet by the time the Sunday Game programme had an opportunity to analyse both incidents fully and magnify everything the conclusion of most is that the referees got both calls right. We also had the incident earlier in the year of the Limerick goal against Westmeath and even Brogans point yesterday where people were deceived by the camera angle. 6. Focus on our own teams shortcomings rather than blaming the ref all the time. daytona11 (Kildare) - Posts: 4012 - 31/08/2015 15:33:28 1779100 Link 0 |
MesAmis - second ref dosent have to be on the field, could be stationed in the stand, so long as he/she was wired to the ref on the field. neverright (Roscommon) - Posts: 1648 - 31/08/2015 15:52:29 1779123 Link 0 |
