Kevin Keane was provoked by Michael Murphy who struck him, Kevin Keane got sent off and Mayo subsequently appealed and won the appeal. And there, The CCCCCCCC opened a can of worms. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 31/08/2015 09:24:40 1778518 Link 0 |

I think the problem for Connolly is that other incidents in the game he was involved in will be brought in also. tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1337 - 31/08/2015 09:46:01 1778560 Link 0 |

Don't expect him to get off. Is guilty of throwing a punch and has too much previous. realman2 (Kildare) - Posts: 464 - 31/08/2015 09:54:57 1778580 Link 0 |
To be fair, there were very little in that incident.Yes Keegan did start it and they rolled around on the ground, however Connolly can be seen to throw a dig.A pretty innocuous one by the looks of it,but unfortunately he gave the referee a decision to make.He seemed wound up all day,and did get reprimanded for dissent also. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/08/2015 09:56:21 1778582 Link 0 |
As i say, no complaints with the Red card itself on the day. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 31/08/2015 09:57:35 1778583 Link 0 |

Id be happy enough if Diarmuid Connolly, Philly McMahon, Aidan O'Shea and Cillian O'Connor where all available next week. waynoI (Dublin) - Posts: 13650 - 31/08/2015 09:59:51 1778588 Link 0 |
Connolly,McMahon and O Connor to miss replay.Thats the way i see it anyway. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/08/2015 10:03:59 1778593 Link 0 |
I'm not condoning Connolly, he has travelled this road before. By the rules he should miss out. But directly before they tangled on the ground Keegan elbowed him in the face. I've seen video evidence of this. You cannot punish the guy that reacted and let the perpetrator go free. If Connolly goes then Keegan joins him. seany16 (Dublin) - Posts: 1658 - 31/08/2015 10:12:13 1778609 Link 0 |
Possibly Jonny Cooper to miss out also, although the ref did see that incident and dealt with it at the time by issuing a yellow card. But I fully agree that if Connolly's ban remains then Cillian O'Connor should also for that was the exact same offence, striking a player while being held onto. Except of course Keegan didn't need 10 stitches and ROC did, as well as missing that game and probably the replay also. Beacaire Gorm (Dublin) - Posts: 597 - 31/08/2015 10:16:54 1778624 Link 0 |

Fair is fair, and I don't see how the CCCC can overturn Keane's suspension without doing the same for Connolly. Taking a broader view, what is far more worrying is that the GAA consistently seems to set aside its own rules towards the business end of the season, hanging its own officials out to dry in the process.
