Cluxton more than fallible

(Oldest Posts First)

While I have always admired the man as a shot stopper I have always thought he a bit frail under pressure (Kerry 2013, Fermanagh this year and again today). Cost the Dubs the game IMO....but Mayo should have won if they didn't resort to type in first 15 min of 2nd half and nearly kick the game and themselves out of the Championship.

Cluxton over hyped for me though.

Like the whole Dublin team he's gone backwards in the last two years.

They've given us some amazing days out, Cluxton being the most important player in bringing those great days, so we can't complain too much.

Never thought he was a great shot stopper, Meath in 10 put 5 past him, and at least 3 was his fault.
The weak link i feel.

Apart from the missed frees and his brain fart at the end he had a good game and dealt with all the high balls into the square very well.

I've always thought he is over-rated. He made a few mistakes yesterday.

But there is no doubt he is a fine player, how he picks himself and his team mates up for next week's game now will say a lot about him. My guessing is that he will play very well next week.

Also important to point out too that it was not only him at fault for Mayo's comeback yesterday.

How can u say u admired him as a shot stopper dingle?

It's always been pretty evident to anyone who can see past the media's blind love for the man that he was never a great shot stopper.

While I hate how he and Dublin have completely taken the high fielding midfield battle out of Gaelic football (tho wierdly still get praised for playing the game "the right way") his style of kickout did work well for Dublin as did his frees. So much so that his shortcomings were accommodated. Now that those areas if his game seem to be on the waine, maybe more people will start to make up their own mind.
