Have Galway a chance of toppling the Cats?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Hi folks!! Excitement building in Galway ahead of the final. Elation of the Tipp game is now turning to nervous anticipation of the mammoth task that lies ahead on Sunday week. Interested to see do people from neutral counties give us a chance of lifting Liam??

I absolutely give Galway a chance. I've heard some people ask, what's changed since the Leinster final? What's changed is that Galway have had two huge games since then, which has them now operating at a higher level, they've moved up a gear. And the confidence they will have gotten from the Tipp win will make them a different prospect in the final. The fact that Tipp scored 3 goals, and each time Galway came back, is a big thing. That's an experience that gives valuable confidence, because Kilkenny's ability to hit goals at vital points is what gives them such an edge. But Galway now know that if that happens in the final, they can come back every time, their heads won't drop.

I'm not writing off Kilkenny by any means, but this is an even match. I think if Galway can hit the net at least twice, they'll win.

Are Galway a better side then they were in 2012? I think so.

Are Kilkenny as good as they were in 2012? Maybe not!

I'd still have the Cats as slight favourites but I give Galway a huge chance.

Obviously I'm not a neutral but in my opinion Galway have a better chance than ye did in 2012 for reasons I'll go into in further detail when I'm not trying to type it all up on my feckin phone.

I think Galway have every chance of beating Kilkenny, it'll be a hard task but they're up to it. I really hope they do it. I'll be roaring them on come the 1st Sunday in Sept. Best of luck!

Galway are a better team than we have seen in recent years, scores are spread more, Canning is more an integral part of the team, rather than being the team ! They have the firepower, lovely players throughout, they are physical too, the main weakness for Galway I feel is they give a lot of free's away. KK will be a huge test to overcome especially in a final, but if Galway turn up it will be fireworks.

Galway will never have a better chance of toppling Kilkenny then this time. They have played them once already. And Galway have beaten Tipp Cork and Dublin. So they have momentum. They have the players - but can AC keep "his cool" on the sideline. Especially in the second half.

In my opinion Galway will win. They will do the damage to Kilkenny's half back line and in the full forward position and I predict that Canning will have the game of his life.

Of course they have a chance. they are there on merit and it is a two horse race. I am really happy that Galway have stuck with Anthony Cunningham. He has put together an mpressive forard line that has much more options in terms of sharing the burden of scoring. Given that they have not won one since 1988, I like most other neutrals, I imagine, hope they win. All that said, Kilkenny don't really lose finals. I think they will win by 5-6 points.

Absolutely they have a chance .Bookies have them evs +3 and a puck of the ball is about right imo . They seem a much hungrier side than 3 years ago and of course its not just JC anymore thats carrying the attacking burden. And their forwards can score from anywhere.
Also this Galway team has serious grit so if kilkenny get their goal , they will keep flying at them.
The only doubt I would have about them is in midfield . Kilkennys midfield is a completely different animal to Tipps .Seriously physical and if Galway can get some parity there I would fancy them to win. Gonna be another belter I think and the first 5-10 mins will not be for the faint-hearted .

Want Galway to win but I can't see it, one Tipp forward played well. Tipp were cleaned out completely at midfield, will any of that happen to KK I don't think so. Galway have serious lessons to be learned from Tipp game which in a way is a good way to be heading into a final. The whole Country wants a Galway win.

I have a pretty good feeling about the game to be honest.
If Kilkenny beat us out the gate like they did in 2012 ill give up altogether, but Im confident of a good performance in two weeks.
