A gentleman as always Mickey. Asking the hard question there also as to whether one players dramatics is worse than another's punch to the head? Really is strange at what outrages some gaa folks. I'd be expecting Ciaran Whelan to ask Paul Finlay to issue an apology any time soon. Lol.....as if.

Fair play to M hart and let Tyrone don't even dream about making an apology
Think of how all the media crucified Donegal and Jim MC Guinness after the 2011 semi against Dublin and again the rte boys. Still have papers I bought the following day with headings such as PATHETIC DONEGAL. GOOD RIDDENCE ETC. ONLY MADE ME ROW IN HARDER BEHIND J mcG AND I UNDERSTAND HOW TYRONES SUPPORTERS WILL BACK THEIR TEAM
THERE WILL BE GAA IN TYRONE WHEN IT MIGHT BE STRUGGLING IN OTHER PARTS. THAT I KNOW AND FINE GAELS COME FROM THE COUNTY

Well handled.
But needless to say this is response to getting caught out and there would be no statement of regret if cameras had not picked it up.
e.g There was no statement of apology for Mc Cann going down to win a penalty after the Tyrone Meath match. Not that anyone was expecting one.
It would be better if the GAA dealt with these issues wheather picked up by the media or not.Teams like Tyrone are schooled in cynical acts outside the refs line of sight.problem is that Ref is only one man and has not benefit of camera angles.

It's funny. We are so often told that mickey harte doesn't coach this stuff, yet all his players do it. So the only conclusion is he actively searches out guys who do it already.

I wouldn't blame Harte for all of the shenanigans the Tyrone boys are at. it is prevelant in the culture of club football up there and most Tyrone people don't see it as a bad thing. The thing is that every team that has won an all Ireland has had a hard, cynical edge (apart from cork in 2010 and the Galway team of 98-01). What happens the nice teams? Just ask us here in Kildare.

Who coaches AOS, Lee Keegan, Andy Moran etc in cynical play?

Darren Hughes. What goes around comes around! Remember the Rory Kavanagh incident last year where he tapped him on the groin with his boot which had fallen off and he threw himself to the ground in agony!
Just highlighting it

Ashrules - much like one of our Royal brethern yesterday I'm going to have to pull you on that. The penalty v Meath was debatable because of the number of steps taken before the foul was committed. Nothing else. Please keep your posts accurate if you're trying to darken the lads name further.

Very well said. Lee Keegan was hanging out of mc nelis on Saturday blocking his runs every time which went unnoticed , should have walked ten times over for persistence. Mayo are masters at it but is seems to be that the big names and teams get away with it as usual.

What planet do you live on mate, if Harte has dealt with it on a one to one basis as a manager should do then that's good enough. When have you last seen any manager 'apologise' for the on field behaviour of their players?

Give me a break Seanie....If we were to get apologies for every punch thrown in that game by BOTH teams there would be nothing else in the media but public apologies for two weeks.

Well said Mickey. McCann was wrong for what he did, but which came first? Why did Darren Hughes put his hand up if not to antagonise? Hughes was probably hoping McCann would strike him. Something similar to the next game with Michael Murphy and Kevin Keane.

At the throw-in against Galway, Lee Keegan got Lundy in a headlock and pulled him down on the ground right in front of the camera. Lundy fights back and both get a yellow card. Pre-meditated, cynical - exactly what the black card was supposed to sort out but Keegan gets away with it and ends up even with his man.

In the Tyrone game, Rory Beggan finds himself at midfield when the melee started and when pushed, went down like a sack of spuds holding his head. When he finds himself ignored he gets up and walks away. This footage was shown on the Sunday Game but was not mentioned. Beggan also went down for 3 minutes in the Ulster final, had his thigh strapped and proceeded to drive the kickout 60 yards. There were 2 minutes of additional time.

Darren Hughes attributes his red card to ruffling McCanns hair. It would be interesting to hear what Marty Duffy's reasoning was as he saw this clearly. The footage also shows that Duffy had his book out and was writing in it as Hughes ruffled McCann's hair. Was this anything to do with Hughes' shocking tackle on Colm Cavanagh just prior to this?

The point is it's not just Tyrone.

Kavanagh himself pointed this out to Hughes on twitter.

The majority of players playing top level club and inter county football have to be cynical at times, it doesn't need to be coached, no manager goes out and coaches it, they remind players to kill the clock and slow the game down if needed, all players know what that means, you do what you have to do, it isn't always pretty but that's life. It isn't a Tyrone or a Mickey Harte thing, get a grip lads.
