Please comment on recent cork county board statement, same appears incredulous, apart from penalty decision, which whilst soft, I felt was legitimate, the WEATHER and finally that they now would have been in an all-Ireland semi final only for previous excuses totally discounting possibly Fermanagh who they would have met had they beaten Kerry, pathetic from a supposedly professional body, embarrassing. mlcollins (Kerry) - Posts: 440 - 03/08/2015 18:55:13 1763282 Link 0 |
Its a very very strange and bizarre statement to have released. TheHermit (Kerry) - Posts: 6354 - 03/08/2015 21:03:17 1763398 Link 0 |
Mlcollins. The penalty was not legitimate or anything like it.The rest of the County Board statement deserves critical attention but their grievance with the referee is entirely well founded. endgame (Roscommon) - Posts: 2141 - 03/08/2015 21:10:17 1763406 Link 0 |
Pathetic stuff, reminded me of my own county last year blaming the ref for our defeat to Kerry, embarrassing stuff. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 7831 - 03/08/2015 21:15:50 1763413 Link 0 |
Embarrassing statement. It was never a penalty though. Barnowl94 (Galway) - Posts: 3150 - 03/08/2015 21:21:21 1763418 Link 0 |
The Cork Co Board should cop themselves on blaming the ref wfkerry (USA) - Posts: 933 - 03/08/2015 21:27:38 1763423 Link 0 |
I read it and cringed. I doubt the supporters or team buy into the excuses tough. Jackeen (Dublin) - Posts: 4097 - 03/08/2015 21:36:59 1763433 Link 0 |

Why are Cork Co.Board resorting to this. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 04/08/2015 10:51:25 1763554 Link 0 |
They were correct about the ref and were completely within their rights to highlight it. Had some of their defenders made that many obvious mistakes you can be sure they would be highlighted on The Sunday Game, so I have no issue with them doing the same. Didn't bother reading Spillane but I read the Cork statement and it was poor stuff, I wouldn't be happy with our county board if they released this sort of nonsense. Blaming the weather is one I always find particularly stupid, the weather is the exact same for both teams, it's not like one team is playing in balmy conditions and the other is stuck in a tropical hurricane, it's total rubbish. Cringe worthy stuff from the County Board, they really are showing themselves up yet again! As a genuine supporter I am embarrassed by this. We were beaten fair and square by Kerry in the replay and by Kildare. No excuses needed. rebelfi (Cork) - Posts: 76 - 04/08/2015 11:17:40 1763584 Link 0 |
I honestly thought that Cork officials were more clever than this. They normally do their business in the background or at least more discretely. Their hurlers would never have been in the 2013 All Ireland final had the match day officials in a number of matches during that championship not made incorrect decisions. The footballers had 20 minutes left to cancel out that penalty in the Kerry game but weren't good enough. And who exactly did decide to take a two week break between the drawn match and replay? And why did Cork not object at that stage? westisthebest (Galway) - Posts: 444 - 04/08/2015 11:27:13 1763594 Link 0 |
