Dublin untouchable ?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Having seen all provincial finals i think its bang on certainty that Dublin will win Sam, and maybe not having to be at best.
Kerry are no great shakes and barring a fair few suspect calls would not have won Munster, mayo defensive set up is horrendous, we know what dubs will do to Monaghan and Donegal are finished, cork will also not get much further.
For me Dublin only have to play in 2nd gear to win it. This year the are unbeatable they have kicked on while every other county has regressed.

Dubs have no midfield and suspect full back line

Dublin are certainly untouchable in Leinster

Your own county know that only too well.

The big boys outside of leinster though can certainly beat Dublin. Kerry, Mayo, Donegal, Cork, Monaghan, Tyrone etc.

More than capable of beating us, Just as we are more than capable of beating them.

Ahh waynol will you leave the cute hoorism act to the Kerry boys. Only Dublin can beat Dublin, by that i mean imploding like last year, i reckon Westmeath 13 point loss could be on of the closest this year, unless like last year dubs do a mayo on it. Its Dublins to lose no team within a asses roar of them. And any dub that says otherwise is just bs talking.

I'm hoping Mayo can catch Dublin but also acknowlege we could be living in an era of not just the greatest Dublin football team of all time but the greatest Gaelic football team of all time. Dublin remind me of Barcelona during the Pep Guardiola era - a team of all talents. I love watching Dublin play the game, they're so positive in their approach to the game and great roll models for our game. I don't subscribe to the view that standards have dropped dramatically in Leinster - is it not more of a case that Dublin have raised the standards to complete new level? It's up to others to try and pursue them.

Agree with James H Love the way Dublin play football so positive and easy on the eye. If Mayo fall short I hope the Dubs win Sam

Its not cute hoorism at all.

The teams i mentioned are capable of beating Dublin in a one off championship game.

However, Note this.

I also said we are capable of beating them too.

Jamesh. Its more a case of standards in Leinster stagnated while Dublin have moved so far ahead, that is the truth of it. Look like everyone else id love to see mayo win it and while they have some serious defensive issues id rate that as the best mayo team i have seen, but we living in the era of the greatest football team ever, yes they have every advantage but that aside they have the best players, honestly i would think the best of Ireland outside the Dublin region wouldn't get within 8 points if they played to what they can.

High praise royaldunne yes i would agree this will be the decade of the dubs, but they will have to at least do 1 back to back to go down as 1 of the great teams

Potentially - a Dublin vs Mayo semi-final in 2015, could be the game of the decade - never mind the year! The GAA equivalent to El Classico! Think about it, the two classiest footballing sides in the country by some distance, loaded with talent and in their prime coming face to face! Hope it happens and think it will.

Donegal and Mayo have excellent chance of beating ourselves , Im more than happy to take on the rest from what Ive seen from the league and championship . We can be caught cold , Leinster does us no favours , but Im confident of going close to winning Sam , wouldn't swap squad with anyone else , think the bookies odds are outrageous and wouldn't put a cent on us ,gut feeling is we have another Sam in us , hope so as Cluxton , Brogans etc aren't getting any younger

Have to say the prospect of a potential Mayo V Dublin semi would be a stand out fixture for me! Dublin forwards could do Mayo some damage but Mayo have the potential to create carnage around the middle of the field and up front...
We'll be hoping to navigate our path through the other side of the draw and come with a winning plan on the big day in Sept!!

Provoincial finals will have no bearing going forward. Kerry will stroll past the winner of next qualifier and Dublin will have much stiffer test in Cork who I expect to win in similar fashion.
No reason to be sure of semi final pairings yet not to mention a final.
Tyrone ,Donegal and Monaghan will have a big say yet.

Dublin are fully deserving of being All-Ireland favourites. They are the league champions and the team in the best vein of form.

At the same time I do not accept the unbeatable tag just yet. Unlike Kerry and Monaghan who were tested by Division 1 semi-finalists in their respective provincial finals, Dublin have only come up against Division 3 opponents. Still, they can only beat what is put in front of them. Same goes for Mayo.

Cork are capable of beating Dublin in the quarter-final.
Mayo or Donegal are capable of beating Dublin in the semi-final.
Monaghan or Tyrone are capable of beating Dublin in the final.

With the last 6 champions not getting past the semi-finals, we'll be hoping for the best. Sure we'll give it our best shot!

Dublin are the obvious choice but the same people said the same thing last year. No team is untouchable and I don't think they imploded against Donegal. They were out-thought and out-battled.

I think they have learned in the last year and I think they are ready to play a defensive system this year. But I would not be seriously surprised to see them come up short again. As others have said they have weaknesses that nobody in Leinster are capable of taking advantage of.

Once we get to the 1/4 final stage in a few weeks every match is a final for the teams, finals are 50/50 anything can happen. NO one is untouchable until they are walking up those steps in the third week in September to lift Sam.

The Championship is very open as it stands, I assume this is what everyone would want.
