I hear Westmeath are unhappy with the decision to appoint Joe McQuillan as referee for Sunday's Leinster final.

Why are they unhappy with the choice of referee.
It shouldn't matter to them who he referee is and they should just concentrate on issues within their control. who the referee is is out of their control...

ormondbannerman Joe McQuillan is one of the top referee's in the country but he previously took charge of inhouse games for Dublin so Westmeath are right to be annoyed.

Dublin will win regardless but fair play to Westmeath. The Dublin/McQuillan issue has been swept under the carpet for too long at this stage.

he did. I know for a fact he officiated one at St. Bridget's in Summer 2011.

No he actually did. They tried to cover it up with a statement about mcquillan not reffing games for Dublin 'THAT YEAR'. But what difference does it make if it happened this year or last year? The truth is it happened in 2011 when Dublin were working on their blanket defence, the point was made in 2012.

I hear he knows someone from Dublin too.

Shocking, shouldn't be allowed if that's the case.

The more people he knows from Dublin, the more likely he is to be biased against them!

It's no surprise dubs are delighted with mcquillans constant appointmets....he handed them there first Sam in a long time in 2011...like Craig Joubert down in NZ, he bottled it in front of the home crowd that were under pressure to deliver the trophy after a long wait. It won't make any odds too Sundays game tho. Dubs will win by 20 pts no matter who is ref

It sounds to me like more culchie whinging and begrudging going on here, jeez, if it's not the financial advantage, it's the resources advantages, or playing every game at home advantage, or the huge population advantage, and now the boggers are whinging about Dublin having their buddy Joe, reffing the game, come on culchies, just enjoy watching the Dublin Juggernaut crushing all and sundry, and less of the whinging.
