Galway minors gave Mayo an awful drubbing on sat eve.i don't think many were expecting it. Were Mayo very poor or were Galway just very good? How are the other provinces looking? philip3 (Galway) - Posts: 196 - 05/07/2015 19:25:32 1747922 Link 0 |

I have attended 3 Ulster minor games including Donegal. Based on what I saw in first 2 games I thought they were not only Ulster candidates but big players for the All Ireland. I think they did too hence the pressure told in a below par performance against Derry. Derry for their part should account for Cavan in the Ulster final based on minor league form and coming from the much stronger side of the draw. They got their tactics right on the day against Donegal but were helped by an abject performance from the Donegal management and players. It was clear they targeted kick outs to Conor Glass who was exceptional on the day and as good a minor player has I have witnessed recently. However Donegal failed to counteract this by making it difficult for him. The Donegal kick outs were also slow and badly misplaced alot of the time putting Derry on the front foot. There was a feeling by the majority in attendance that this was a game Donegal let slip by. They kicked alot of really bad wides in the second half some right on front of goal and still had a pen to win it with final kick of the game. I still would expect Derry to win Ulster but I would not see them as All Ireland winners. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2771 - 06/07/2015 20:14:36 1748853 Link 0 |
Mayo were shocking alright , then again i have to say Galway looked really good at stages but Sligo will test Galway a lot more.. The future for Galway improving slowly but surely.. Belclare1 (Galway) - Posts: 1626 - 07/07/2015 10:18:54 1749003 Link 0 |
yeah very surprised by Derry. Donegal were a serious force. Good to see we had them at every turn DoireCityFC (Derry) - Posts: 1580 - 07/07/2015 10:50:26 1749028 Link 0 |
Well I am not sure about having them at every turn Doire. Donegal kicked alot of bad wides in second half and were a shocking penalty attempt from winning which would have been harsh on Derry to be fair. Saying that alot of the cynicism left a sour taste. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2771 - 07/07/2015 11:38:06 1749090 Link 0 |

Agreed Miler, ye boys in Mayo should know that more than anyone, but with our Minors and 21s beating Mayo this year i stand by by opinion that we are going in the right direction Belclare1 (Galway) - Posts: 1626 - 08/07/2015 10:01:30 1749656 Link 0 |

Your bang on there Gary, Glass was the class player on the pitch. Heard he is AFL bound that right? Pity for Derry in the future if so unless of course it does not work out. Donegal are a much better side than they showed on the day. Derry utilized their possession way better and were generally far calmer when on the ball up front so deserved the win. panamasam (Australia) - Posts: 2771 - 12/07/2015 14:48:30 1751779 Link 0 |
