Bring on the Dubs

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Wonderful performance from Westmeath last Sunday finally getting the Meath monkey off our back once and for all. A terrific team performance in the second half just blew Meath away and set us up for a Leinster Final Meeting with The Dubs. I would say to the Westmeath team do not buy into this notion that the Dubs are unbeatable. Westmeath have played some great football this summer 10 minutes against Wexford scoring 1-9 in this period. 20 minutes against Meath outscoring them 2-8 to 1 point, what great confidence they will take from that. The important thing against Dublin is to stay with them in that vital first 15 minutes. I have no doubt that the Westmeath attack have the ability to trouble the Dublin defence and more importantly score goals against them, that's the key to beating the Dubs (goals). This is a very good Westmeath panel, some great options on the bench as proved against Meath. This is what drives a team on. So let us all head to Croke Park next Sunday team and supporters alike, with the confidence that we can do the same to the Dubs as we did against Meath, just blow them away!

Well done on yere excellent win v the royals. But the party ends here.Im not sure you feel the magnitude of playing Dublin in a final in Croke Park.My feeling is you will come 5pm on matchday.Im afraid it wont be pretty.Pretty ugly maybe.Dublin will expose the tiniest flaw, both mentally and physically, and will not relent.Dubs by 10 minumum.

Fair play Killucan and best of luck with it. You have nothing to lose. Go out and enjoy your day. It is only Westmeaths fourth Leinster final appearance.

Congrats on beating Meath, absolutely delighted for Westmeath, but unfortunately, facing the financial juggernaut on their home ground will probably not be good for the Westmeath team and supporters.

Well cuederocket , whether Westmeath know the magnitude of the task or not doesn't matter . They are going up to win. This Killucan man has the right attitude. To many teams are beaten before they are beaten. Bring it on.

Jack,we embrace the challenge. We are used to fighting spiel and brave talk beforehand. We are also used to lowering hapless counties self esteem, and sending the hordes of expectant country folk on the long journey home with wings clipped and tails between legs.Well ye have been warned....

Anyway cuederocket good luck in the match. It just that making blatantly obvious predictions about what is expected to happen whilst sounding like you have some insider knowledge that no one else knows gets a bit boring . The opening poster has an optimistic view of the match and good luck to him.

Jack,i have a lifetimes experience,a love of sport and GAA,and 2 perfectly functioning eyes. That is my honest opinion in how i see the game developing. If you take offence to that, its not my problem.Like most people, bookies included,i can only see one winner. And by quite a handsome margin. No disrespect intended.

I think the odds are an insult. 1/500 is clearly excessive. Betting aside I think Westmeath have a decent chance. They were awesome in the second half against us and I am fairly sure they would have done the same to another team. I was very impressed with John Heslin and can see him making a big impact on the outcome. Early goal concessions always put doubts in the mind of a Dub and get 2 and you are laughing. I am going to predict a draw on this one. Westmeath 3-14 Dublin 2-17.

I think westmeath will give it right rattle surely cant be as bad as longford or kildare, think will cover the handicap of 16 points worth a bet i think

Well i suppose Westmeath do not have the scars of Kildare,Meath and Wexford when it comes to dubs, so in that they have a advantage, looking around Westmeath though i think they view beating Meath as others would winning a all ire,
However i cant see them getting within 15 points of dubs unfortunately

Dubs attack is far better than meaths who scored 2-18, most from play. And theyre defence is solid as a rock, they will not let westmeath even get a sniff, dublin 4-24 westmeath 1-10
