Teams who never beat a county in their province!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

So last week we had an epic battle of free flowing football in croker. Huge celebrations from westmeath.

They had just completed the come back of the year against their old foes meath. What better team to do it against as we'd done it to them so many times.

So this was the first time they'd ever beaten us. Got me thinking:

Has any other county never beaten another county in their very own province?

Cannot be 100% certain on this.

Waterford beat Cork in the McGrath Cup game this year. Reports said that the last time they had been beaten us was a league game in 1957 - there is no mention of them ever beating us in championship.

I know Tipp and Clare have both beaten Kerry in the championship. I am not sure if Limerick or Waterford have?

Every team except Fermanagh have won at least 6 Ulsters so I cant have seen it happening up here. im sure Fermanagh have beat most if not all Ulster teams at some stage. Crazy! Mad to think you only beat your "fierce rivals" once ever. If that was Derry against Tyrone I think we would have just made someone else our rivals to at least get the odd win ha ha

If Limerick have won a couple of All-Irelands in football then they probably have beaten Kerry, even if it was in the late nineteenth century. Didn't Waterford beat Kerry once in the championship back in the 1950s?

Waterford beat Kerry in 1957.
What about Leinster? I would think that Carlow, Wicklow and Kilkenny would have a few blank records.

Carlow beat Louth in 2011. It was the first time ever they had beaten the Wee County in the championship after 11 attempts.

Still on Carlow, they barrowsiders have never beaten Meath in the championship. They drew with Meath in 2012.

So Waterford have beaten Cork once.
Carlow beat louth for the first time ever recently and westmeath the same against meath .

Yeah carlow came close against meath in 2012 but in fairness it was the last kick of the game to salvage a draw so they were never going to win.

I wonder if fermanagh or Antrim never beat an ulster team?

Have leitrim beaten mayo or Galway?

London have never beaten mayo and probably not Galway .

Have Waterford beaten kerry ?

I wonder if westmeath yesterday will be the last ever first provincial victory over a rival for a long long time

Jack Goff - yeah we have beaten all Ulster teams. People tend to forget that by the time we won our last Ulster in 51 only Cavan and Monaghan had more Ulster titles than us. We decided to let others have a go as we are generous like that.

Offside that's very generous of you. You should have a word with the dubs.

OK so everyone has beaten everyone in ulster and connaught.

So is it just wicklow and carlow in leinster left and Waterford to beat kerry left?

I'm going to guess there's a few teams in Ulster who have never beaten Antrim...in hurling of course. On the flip side of that Antrim have yet to beat most teams in Leinster since the move. Galway must have a solid record against most out west as well.

Haven't read any post but just seen "province" on the title and want to know can anyone explain to me why Mayo won't have played for month (Connaught final) while Dublin/Westmeath play two weeks again for the Leinster title? Even Sligo played before us both so who is doing the fixture list surely that can't be right?
