What's the point in showing Dublin's early Leinster Championship matches......two miss-matches v Longford and Kildare....game over after 10mins again. Why not show a qualifier instead? Watching this thumping does the GAA absolutley no good!!! galwayfan (None) - Posts: 764 - 28/06/2015 16:42:20 1743865 Link 0 |
There are a lot of Dubs living far away from Croke Park that have no way of getting there and need it shown on TV to see their beloved team play! OgraAnDun (Down) - Posts: 406 - 28/06/2015 16:45:39 1743872 Link 0 |
True, we haven't seen the reigning champions Kerry on TV yet but we have to watch this farce every few weeks for the past 10 years, no more Dublin matches unless it's a Leinster final and even then I'd rather watch paint dry riverboys (Mayo) - Posts: 1389 - 28/06/2015 16:46:54 1743874 Link 0 |
I would agree what is the point in showing them it does I think affect attendances, but Dublin don't ask to be shown, its the TV companies that want them, Dublin have as little control over that as playing home games in Croker. Not that there is a stadium in Leinster capable of hosting that match? So on both points its not Dublins fault, its all about ratings/advertising and yes money - someone has to pay for the lights. arock (Dublin) - Posts: 4895 - 28/06/2015 17:59:37 1743940 Link 0 |

I think its good to watch Dublin. I love watching the way the play the game. The pace they play it at. The way they pass and move, the slill of the players, the power and accuracy. I love the way they can improvise in front of goal to take goal chances. Some players will always try and gather possesion first before shooting. The dubs don't they just hit it, whether it's a volley, a fist, a palm , anything. This is way it should be done as otherwise you give defenders time to get in place. Players like the Brogans, dermuid connolly and others are a joy to watch. How could anyone who likes sport fail to like watching them. s goldrick (Cavan) - Posts: 5518 - 28/06/2015 18:12:29 1743950 Link 0 |

You can when the population of the county in question is 1 million. I appreciate that there are problems with soccer and culchies etc but it's still a fairly poor turnout. OgraAnDun (Down) - Posts: 406 - 28/06/2015 21:46:19 1744205 Link 0 |
I don't think that anybody is having a go at Dublin here. The reality is Dublin are the top Division 1 side - games against Division 3 sides are always likely to be uncompetitive and given that Dublin are so ruthless and professional they ensure that the predicted turkey shoot will ensue. It is not good promotion for Gaelic football to show this rubbish. Dublin may be good to look at. However, just show the highlights then. I take the point about Dubs and RTE revenue. This is valid. These games to me are extremely boring. Dublin's best games this year were against Kerry and Monaghan in the league. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 28/06/2015 21:59:20 1744218 Link 0 |

Ratings, it's a rating thing.. jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20600 - 29/06/2015 09:40:26 1744321 Link 0 |
Pretty much every game in Croke Park is televised, regardless of the Dubs playing or not. Ratings are also a major factor obviously. Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12116 - 29/06/2015 10:17:18 1744388 Link 0 |
