calling somebody the greatest hurler ever should always be followed with the words "in my opinion".

i never seen him hurl but by all accounts he was a great one and broke my fathers heart a few times.RIP Jimmy.

Very sad news for Tipperary and the wider GAA family. One of my Dads favourite players also.A supreme artist in an era of hard hurling.4 All Ireland minor finals is outrageous.More importantly,Jimmy was a thorough gentleman, loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. What we do in life echoes in eternity.Long after were all gone,Jimmy Doyle will be talked about.Enjoy your well deserved rest.RIP.

I know very little of the man , having come to hurling a lot later than football .However Ive been around men of a certain era and same names come up Mackey Rickards Ring Eddie Keher and Doyle , they swear by his genius and that's good enough for me .
To all his county men give the legend the send of he deserves , I know from personal experience when Heffo passed how it hits the county community, hard to lose a special person .
RIP

Úsaidtear an focal "Laoch" go rí-mhinic agus go ró-mhinic seans ar na saolta seo chun cuir síos ar dhuine atá tar éis bhaís.Is beak duine go raibh an teideal sin tuillte aige nó aici chomh mór le Jimmy. Ba iománaí den chéad scoth é.
Déanaim mo chombrón do a mhuintir. Grásta Ó Dhia ar a anam.

RIP Jimmy, his record as a minor alone, ensured him of legendary status.

Jimmy Doyle was an icon that kids wanted to imitate when I was young. I was lucky that I got to see him play many a time. Thanks Jimmy. R,I,P,

As Christy Ring said to Mick Mackey...if Jimmy Doyle had a stronger physique, there would be little doubt who is the greatest hurler of all time.
He was an unbelievable player, accurate free taker, could do anything with a ball.
The star of Tipp's 1960's team, I watched him many a time help Tipp annihilate Cork in successive Munster finals of 1964/1965.
A gentleman hurler..one of the greats
