Firstly Im a massive fan of Ryan and allways have been , and I'm looking forward to seeing his interview. I was at both of those games and I didn't see him bite the gooch in 03 but I did see him with his hands in gooches face in 05 as pascal McConnell held the gooch and it did look like it was in the eye area to me that he was working on and to my friends and the other supporters around us as well So I don't know how he's gona explain that one . There is NO DOUBT about what he did in 05. Anyone who was anywhere near the incident saw it. Something for him to be really proud of whiterbannnas (Mayo) - Posts: 2441 - 10/04/2015 21:07:32 1712891 Link 0 |
To be honest, he can say what he likes, but there is no question that he deliberately gouged gooch's eye in 05. TheMaster (Mayo) - Posts: 16187 - 11/04/2015 08:52:18 1712909 Link 0 |
I dont think Laochra Gael should honour a guy, at least when paudi was asked about that haymaker he gave dinny allen, he was only too happy to talk about it ha ha lilypad (Kildare) - Posts: 1363 - 11/04/2015 11:41:59 1712939 Link 0 |

He was clearly caught on tape kneeing John Mc Entee. He took a good hold of Paul Galvins too. Hes a grand lad all the same :L dakid (Australia) - Posts: 282 - 11/04/2015 13:10:38 1712968 Link 0 |

Its the southern media again picking on a poor misfortunate northerner. Sure he's a lovely wee lad. Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 11/04/2015 15:24:21 1713004 Link 0 |
Epitomised the Tyrone team of that era, which is nothing to be proud of Burnsey (Down) - Posts: 561 - 11/04/2015 15:41:15 1713009 Link 0 |
Always sailed close to the line, from the wrong side but some of the moral indignation here is hypocritical to say the least. Kerry were well able to dish it out as well as take it so no one of the era was whiter than white, kenelly and galvin in particular liked the odd dirty stroke. Look he wasnt the greatest footballer but a solid tenacious defender who became a figurehead, would have thought gormley or jordan would have been better candidates but hey ho stirs up some faux controversy. duckula20 (Antrim) - Posts: 175 - 11/04/2015 16:00:42 1713015 Link 0 |
Tbh I think Ryan played the game his way and I'm sure he has no regrets nor should he IMO , if it was me and it meant I'd win an allireland I'd have done a lot worse and so would most people in fairness , it must have been an nightmare to have to face him as a forward. I'd have a way more time for Ryan then I'd have for Conor gormley. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 11/04/2015 16:06:29 1713018 Link 0 |

While Ryan McMenamin was a good player, he was also a mouthy ** on the pitch. GaryMc82 (Derry) - Posts: 3017 - 11/04/2015 17:16:26 1713048 Link 0 |
