Now while I agree with him regarding Mickys comments, I think the language used is OTT and more to gain headlines rather than highlighting the problem with football in general. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 31/03/2015 16:12:42 1708996 Link 0 |
Brolly and Spillane are a bit like you RD , they're just making comments for the sake of it and to try and gain attention for themselves . I really cannot understand why RTE persist with these people . TheRightStuff (Donegal) - Posts: 1688 - 31/03/2015 17:48:04 1709065 Link 0 |
He lost the argument when he threw language like that in in connection with one of the most respected figures in football. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1790 - 31/03/2015 17:59:57 1709071 Link 0 |
How dare Brolly tell Mickey Harte to f**k off. Cavan_Slasher (Cavan) - Posts: 10253 - 31/03/2015 18:17:31 1709088 Link 0 |
To be honest I think Brolly is right, I usually ignore him but I was caught by the title of the article so job done Brolly. But anyway that aside if Mickey Harte said "we're not in the business of entertainment", then Brolly actually has a point when he says "well then f**k off and play behind closed doors if you're not in the business of entertainment". His language was wrong but he was 100% right in what he said. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 31/03/2015 18:37:12 1709102 Link 0 |
Therightstuff. While in flattered you hold me in such high esteem as putting me in the same category as multiple all ire medals , also i don't have the cushy jobs they have , i actually worked hard for where i am today, royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 31/03/2015 18:37:30 1709103 Link 0 |
I've no idea what you do when your not on HS but well done all the same . I can only judge by your comments and I think they are ludicrous . You actually once claimed that Meath had better players than us , now how can anyone take you serious ? Meath's behaviour on football pitches ' back in the day ' was more criminal than any blanket . 100% agree with brolly. And I wouldn't just say it to harte. I'd include all the ulster counties and a fair few down south too. foreverroyal (Meath) - Posts: 349 - 31/03/2015 18:56:37 1709109 Link 0 |
While Brolly is excitable and prone to the rant which doesn't do him any favours, I think there is something to be said in the overall scheme of the idea that people do attend games with the hope of seeing an exciting and enjoyable spectacle. If as a manager you decide that entertainment and enjoyment is no longer required then it does not bode well for how you view the sport anymore Dubh_linn (Dublin) - Posts: 2312 - 31/03/2015 19:01:28 1709111 Link 0 |

You've shouted that stuff at Malachy O Rourke Richue ? When was that ? Would it have been on the days when his so called defensive Monaghan team scored 1-18, 0-20 or 2-16 against Meath ? Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6029 - 31/03/2015 19:18:05 1709124 Link 0 |
Hypocritical from Brolly when you consider he called teams who man mark as naïve! witnof (Dublin) - Posts: 1604 - 31/03/2015 19:29:19 1709132 Link 0 |
Joe Brolly is yet to manage a football team above his Club's U-14s or 16s, whilst that is a laudable activity(I do something similar myself) it leaves him woefully under-qualified to speak in such negative terms about Micky Harte and Brian McIver both of whom have led teams to National Inter-county titles. downredhand (Tyrone) - Posts: 567 - 31/03/2015 19:35:13 1709134 Link 0 |
No therightstuff what i said was that Donegal had the least skilled players to ever win a all Ireland, lets be honest man for man Donegal wouldn't be in the top 10 in country, it was all system and j mcg. Please don't try to rewrite history and say you actually have good footballers, you don't. End of. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 31/03/2015 19:39:55 1709137 Link 0 |

Downredhand, while i disagree with the language used, i feel as a supporters we including brolly have every right to question what way a manager sets up to play the game. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 31/03/2015 19:52:02 1709144 Link 0 |
Muck ill repeat what colm O'Rourke said, "the worst team to ever win a all ire, proving that you no longer need the best players to win a all Ireland". You and i know that Dublin were the best team in country last year but were caught out by the system, and then Kerry out Donegaled Donegal in final. Its not rocket science. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 31/03/2015 19:58:39 1709150 Link 0 |
