If everything is ok in the camp, why do they feel the need to update us now on a weekly basis that everything is ok in the camp. Surely if everything is ok then theres no need to mention anything?? Brianmac78 (Dublin) - Posts: 1168 - 31/03/2015 12:49:50 1708843 Link 0 |
Bit harsh Brianmac 78 , some of it brought on themselves but there is no doubt that this Clare team / management have been under massive scrutiny recently , seems they cant do right for doing wrong , not since Ger Loughnane have we had such a pantomime . I tipped Clare for this years All Ireland so i did. This was before the 2 lads leaving the panel so it was.I dont think Clare are in a good place so i dont.I see Ger Loughnane saying yesterday that things are looking good for Clare. After losing once again. And Loughnane was ultra critical of them only a couple of weeks back.Theyve won 1 game in a year and have lost Podge Collins to the football so they have.Davy can waffle and spin all he likes so he can but im afraid both himself and his team will not be winning this years All Ireland and Davy will be gone by years end.So he will. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/03/2015 13:31:50 1708880 Link 0 |
It's media driven - in fairness, if D Fitz is asked a question, he's going to be helpful and answer back. The point that's being missed completely by outsiders is that the Clare public is 100% behind the team and players...but the same is not true of the management. I question the management (and particularly the selectors) as to what they see before them in the pitch. We have a small and quick team and the faster the ball is played to our forwards, the better. Short ball is the correct option sometimes, but we have the balance wrong under the management. Anytime we go more direct, it works...AI replay...2nd half against dublin this year...S O'Donnell destroying P Mutphy last Sunday etc. 1914 (Clare) - Posts: 92 - 31/03/2015 13:39:47 1708887 Link 0 |
Totally agree Damothedub Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1415 - 31/03/2015 13:42:36 1708892 Link 0 |
On a separate but connected point, I thought it was ironic that the last two points Clare conceded last Saturday were as a result of short passes breaking down within 30m of our own goal. I've been to l our league games and I'd say that particular running total must make for uncomfortable viewing. Relegated by the short game! 1914 (Clare) - Posts: 92 - 31/03/2015 13:43:14 1708893 Link 0 |
wouldnt say its harsh at all. if its all ok then why doesnt he let it die off why is he mentioning it again. If fans and pundits want to chat away about it so be it but how does he think hes helping his panel by him bringing it up again? Best thing for Clare would be a closed house Brianmac78 (Dublin) - Posts: 1168 - 31/03/2015 13:43:41 1708894 Link 0 |
Judgeing by their performance and attitude in Nowlan park it seems whoever is left on the panel are ready to pull together. I was very impressed with them for the first time since September 2013. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 2629 - 31/03/2015 13:47:28 1708900 Link 0 |
Yes on a positive , betean by the smallest margin , other counties would drink out of the half full jar on that one . Damothedub (Dublin) - Posts: 5193 - 31/03/2015 14:31:45 1708922 Link 0 |
They played well on Sunday but still lost.Their win against Dublin is the only win since last years league. If,as i expect now,Limerick beat them in May,the wheels may come off. What Davy did to the 2 lads is a disgrace and im sure some of his panel must be unhappy with it. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/03/2015 14:34:34 1708926 Link 0 |

Ive always liked Clare...traditionally they are a minnow as Davy stated with 4 all Irelands. But most of their fans today have seen their county win three All Irelands....that latest 2 years ago...I think winning v Cork two years ago and the 3 in a row u-21 winners that the Clare public and GAA public at large except them to be in finals every year but that does not always happen. It happened when Tipp won a few years ago everyone said they will domiante, didnt happen, same with the success Limerick had at u-21 level. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11227 - 31/03/2015 15:31:21 1708973 Link 0 |
Ok Damo, when i said i was sure some members of the panel would be unhappy with what happened the 2 lads i was figuratively speaking. How about i swap "sure" for id be "surprised" if some of the panel werent disappointed. If the reports on the lads punishment are true(did the 2 lads make it up?)it doesnt say much for Davys management style. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/03/2015 15:49:01 1708983 Link 0 |
Nothing frustrates me about Davy Fitz more than him getting so much air-time shouting for a league re-structure. Pinkie (Wexford) - Posts: 4100 - 31/03/2015 16:50:44 1709023 Link 0 |

Not a bad comparison Damo, and only time will tell.As i already said,i have tipped Clare to win the All Ireland, but i just dont feel everything is right.Clare cannot afford to lose the likes of Collins,O Connell and O Halloran from their panel.Maybe they will prove me wrong.I do fear for them now though.Losing is a habit.Limerick v Clare is a game i cannot wait for. cuederocket (Dublin) - Posts: 5084 - 31/03/2015 17:58:42 1709070 Link 0 |
hen Kevin Cassidy left/kicked off the Donegal panel I heard nothing but stories from sources up in Donegal about how disgusted privately players were . They won an All Ireland and I never heard anything again . Clareman (Clare) - Posts: 1056 - 02/04/2015 20:18:03 1709986 Link 0 |
