Clare hurlers

(Oldest Posts First)

If everything is ok in the camp, why do they feel the need to update us now on a weekly basis that everything is ok in the camp. Surely if everything is ok then theres no need to mention anything??

Is Davy trying to convince himself or what

Bit harsh Brianmac 78 , some of it brought on themselves but there is no doubt that this Clare team / management have been under massive scrutiny recently , seems they cant do right for doing wrong , not since Ger Loughnane have we had such a pantomime .
Probably hard to stay quite when every dog in the street is giving their tupence halpenny worth .

I tipped Clare for this years All Ireland so i did. This was before the 2 lads leaving the panel so it was.I dont think Clare are in a good place so i dont.I see Ger Loughnane saying yesterday that things are looking good for Clare. After losing once again. And Loughnane was ultra critical of them only a couple of weeks back.Theyve won 1 game in a year and have lost Podge Collins to the football so they have.Davy can waffle and spin all he likes so he can but im afraid both himself and his team will not be winning this years All Ireland and Davy will be gone by years end.So he will.

It's media driven - in fairness, if D Fitz is asked a question, he's going to be helpful and answer back. The point that's being missed completely by outsiders is that the Clare public is 100% behind the team and players...but the same is not true of the management. I question the management (and particularly the selectors) as to what they see before them in the pitch. We have a small and quick team and the faster the ball is played to our forwards, the better. Short ball is the correct option sometimes, but we have the balance wrong under the management. Anytime we go more direct, it works...AI replay...2nd half against dublin this year...S O'Donnell destroying P Mutphy last Sunday etc.

Totally agree Damothedub

Davy had an interview with the local radio station and the question popped up. Its hardly another statement! But then, you make what you want of these things and I think this whole situation has ran its course.

I dont see anyone writing a tread on the masterclass given by Tony Kelly and Shane O'Donnell last Sunday - probably something way more concrete which has come out of Clare recently, and we saw it for our own eyes

On a separate but connected point, I thought it was ironic that the last two points Clare conceded last Saturday were as a result of short passes breaking down within 30m of our own goal. I've been to l our league games and I'd say that particular running total must make for uncomfortable viewing. Relegated by the short game!

wouldnt say its harsh at all. if its all ok then why doesnt he let it die off why is he mentioning it again. If fans and pundits want to chat away about it so be it but how does he think hes helping his panel by him bringing it up again? Best thing for Clare would be a closed house

Judgeing by their performance and attitude in Nowlan park it seems whoever is left on the panel are ready to pull together. I was very impressed with them for the first time since September 2013.

Yes on a positive , betean by the smallest margin , other counties would drink out of the half full jar on that one .
The performance was excellent , and as someone else mentioned O Donnell and Kelly were absolutely mesmerising and were very unfortunate to be on a losing side , O Donnell threw and Elvis hip shake at one stage and Im sure his marker turned 360 inside and out , joyfull , O Donnell is back in form which is crucial to Clares chances , I for one do not know who will win Liam , Id put Tipp and the Cats up as favourites not in a million years would I write Clare off . I did that two years ago .

They played well on Sunday but still lost.Their win against Dublin is the only win since last years league. If,as i expect now,Limerick beat them in May,the wheels may come off. What Davy did to the 2 lads is a disgrace and im sure some of his panel must be unhappy with it.

How on earth can you possibly say you are sure some of his panel are unhappy with it , what do you know that no one else knows ? You've passed off your opinion as a type of fact . I will tell you what I know , Nothing .
Guess work my friend unless you have a sixth cousin twice removed that works on the BBC for Clare , [ Balls Bibs and Cones ]
On opinions mine would be they could not have put in the display they did v the Cats unless they were united . My opinion Limerick have far more to worry about from what I saw at the weekend .
Again an opinion , I wonder how happy current panel are with their missing team mates .

Ive always liked Clare...traditionally they are a minnow as Davy stated with 4 all Irelands. But most of their fans today have seen their county win three All Irelands....that latest 2 years ago...I think winning v Cork two years ago and the 3 in a row u-21 winners that the Clare public and GAA public at large except them to be in finals every year but that does not always happen. It happened when Tipp won a few years ago everyone said they will domiante, didnt happen, same with the success Limerick had at u-21 level.

I have seen it in my own county even now where by fans except you to be there or there abouts every year AND playing well every game even league. Now we have not even seen an All Ireland so how luck we would be to have Clare's problems indeed the majority of counties could say the same.

Ok Damo, when i said i was sure some members of the panel would be unhappy with what happened the 2 lads i was figuratively speaking. How about i swap "sure" for id be "surprised" if some of the panel werent disappointed. If the reports on the lads punishment are true(did the 2 lads make it up?)it doesnt say much for Davys management style.

Nothing frustrates me about Davy Fitz more than him getting so much air-time shouting for a league re-structure.

When Kevin Cassidy left/kicked off the Donegal panel I heard nothing but stories from sources up in Donegal about how disgusted privately players were . They won an All Ireland and I never heard anything again .
In other words players can be fickle , you could be right 100% but results have a funny way of dictating how history will be written , results go bad and it could all go powder keg . Win Munster and its Cassidy all over again .

Not a bad comparison Damo, and only time will tell.As i already said,i have tipped Clare to win the All Ireland, but i just dont feel everything is right.Clare cannot afford to lose the likes of Collins,O Connell and O Halloran from their panel.Maybe they will prove me wrong.I do fear for them now though.Losing is a habit.Limerick v Clare is a game i cannot wait for.
