Dublin Fans boo'ing

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

About time football supporters showed their displeasure with the way Gaelic football is going. No disrespect to Derry they are effective and only playing the way they have to. But if this goes on the lack of people in this stadium tonight will be reflected in the championship and the the GAA will be forced to do something to save the game. But its dying on its feet and the gas bit is so many are in denial which is why it is beyond redemption. Compared to the hurling before it, this game is going down the toilet.

Nothing beats being there!! The tagline for the GAA.
I feel sorry for the people who paid to see this.
Must be said however that Dublin have been brutal.
Id give Jim Gavin a 1/10 in terms of preparation.
The Dubs learnt nothing from the Donegal defeat.

Declan O'Sullivan is giving great comments here. He's pretty much saying this is shite football to watch. And the future of the game is at stake.

The most frustrating thing is that people from certain counties/provinces simply dont have the courage or integrity to accept that this stuff is poison for the game. theyd rather close their eyes, stick their fingers in their ears and keep saying " sure, like its win at all costs ya know, sure, like its win at all costs ya know"

100% the GAA's fault.

They've sat and done nothing while negative tactics have nearly destroyed the game over the last 10 years.

Derry have no responsibility to try and play decent football but the GAA have a responsibility to ensure the game can be as entertaining as it can be and they continue to tun a blind eye to the fact that the blanket defence (not handpassing) is ruining the game.

100% behind the Dublin fans booing if I paid money to watch that rubbish I'd boo aswell.

Sadly I predict that nothing will be done and the game will remain unchanged for at least another 10 years as the GAA is too democratic for nay changes to be made.

Gaelic Football is the best game in the world when played positivelt and the gAA should be trying to ensure that teams play more positive football.

Exactly no rules been broken but if a team is supposed to be that good the manager should have a plan to beat the blanket Derry are doing what they do to try and survive

The problem is that alot of supporters enjoy these tactics and think it adds a fascinating dimension to gaelic football. We have watched Donegal win big matches using these tactics and even thought the standard of football was never great, apprantely it made for great viewing for many people with big crowds and decent viewing figures. So why would the Gaa change it? Last year we had 2 decent football semi finals that covered up all the cracks in the muck we were treated to earlier in the year.

By scoring 2 points from play?

Listen I agree

Dublins tactics made that game way way closer than it should have been

No way Kerry would have made such tough work of it thanks to Fitzmaurice

A truly pathetic night for Football in general

Its up to teams to counter the blanket... not play directly into the hands of it

But also.... that's pure gutter footbal that Drry delployed tonight and a stain on the game itself

Its up to real football teams to show up such tactics...sadly Gavin seems hell bent to play directly into the hands of it

Yup. Its the superbug that brolly was talking about. There is no cure. Its really bad for the game, but when you think about it, Derry aren,t really doing anything wrong. Its terrible stuff though. Once in a while it can be fascinating, I didnt really mind that, but if we start seeing this every other week enthusiasm for the sport among the public will drop enormously over the next 10 years.
Theres loads of GAA fans leaving Croker now who wont be going back.

How can any player enjoy being part of such a disgusting formation? Pure dire muck

Dublin only conceded 4 points in 70 minutes. I expect it will be nearly impossible to get tickets for their first game in the Leinster championship as the lovers of great defending make their way down from Ulster in their thousands to admire a team capable of such excellence in defensive play....
