Can anyone confirm the rules determining the final placings in the NHL? If Clare win and Dublin lose next Sunday, is it score difference or head to head that counts? Also- are there finals in the lower groups, 1B, 2A etc?

If Clare win and Dublin lose, Dublin face KK. KK are in the relegation match regardless as they have lost the head to head against both Dublin and Galway.

Essentially, if it is two teams level it comes down to head to head. More than two - points difference. If Dublin loose and Clare win, Clare and Dublin will be on 4, KK - 2 and Galway 6. head to head comes into play to separate Dublin and Clare and as Clare beat Dublin that will keep them up.

Its head to head first and if that doesnt seperate the teams then it is score difference.

It's the best format we have had in the league I think and will be even better when new rules come in from next year. I believe the last place team should go straight down without a playoff.

There is no final in 1B. Wexford v Waterford next week is winner takes all but it just happened to work out that way. I only found out last night there is no 1B/2A play off this year.

I don't know if there's a relegation final or not. But the loser of 1B goes down rather than and the winner of 2A goes up without having to play the ridiculous play off.
