Cork showed great fight in the second half to come back in to the game. They held Tyrone scoreless from play and that's simply not good enough from a Tyrone point of view. Can't find it in me right now to congratulate Cork on a well deserved win as it would seem that a draw might have been the fairest result given that Colm O Neil's last point was by some accounts not a point!! And with Marty Duffy blowing the game up without playing the expected amount of injury time it would seem that he wanted a Cork win as much as the Cork boys!! seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 15/03/2015 17:19:13 1702914 Link 0 |
Hurlers win, footballers lose again! Great day at the office. martinprince (Tyrone) - Posts: 187 - 15/03/2015 17:39:15 1702931 Link 0 |
That sums up a referees life quite well - a team fail to score from play for an entire half of football and yet the poor man in the middle is blamed for the defeat! Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 15/03/2015 18:20:07 1702957 Link 0 |
Thats not the point Soma. Two days in a row ffs refs have permitted scores that shouldn't have been allowed in Div 1 football.Thats not a petty issue, its very serious, especially so in a tight game like todays.Don't get me started on the time keeping issue. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 15/03/2015 19:03:47 1702992 Link 0 |
if my memory serves me rightly theres a bit of history with Marty Duffy and Tyrone that goes back a few years. border Gael (Monaghan) - Posts: 894 - 15/03/2015 19:07:15 1702998 Link 0 |
Referees make honest mistakes and will continue to make them - unless you accept this then almost every sport will be a huge frustration for you. I saw one of the countrys best forwards hit a 21 yard free into the goalkeepers arms today from almost directly in front of goal. There will be no call for an investigation or for the player to be dropped, yet if a referee makes a mistake there is all sorts of demands made as to what should happen to him. The next day calls may well go Tyrones way, but if they again go 35 minutes without scoring from play they will probably lose anyway. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 15/03/2015 19:20:49 1703013 Link 0 |
Main reason Tyrone lost was poor shooting. Still losing a game by a point when one of the final points was wide is poor. tyroneed (Tyrone) - Posts: 753 - 15/03/2015 20:26:01 1703069 Link 0 |

Was not at match but wondered at the subs On paper look Wierd given the defenders available but perhaps it was the old shooting problem that was being addressed Thought he might have let O' Neill on for 15 min cjx (Tyrone) - Posts: 270 - 16/03/2015 09:01:00 1703177 Link 0 |
Brendtheredhand, the hurlers beat Louth, the footballers unfortunately lost to cork, and I got promotion at work for meeting deadlines!!! What's the problem? Lol martinprince (Tyrone) - Posts: 187 - 16/03/2015 10:10:46 1703215 Link 0 |
No excuses, not good enough! Young pretenders up front go from the absolute sublime to the absolute abysmal every time. They cant be relied upon. Colm O'Neill a different class. I hope he wins an all Ireland with Cork, deserves it! redhanddefender (Tyrone) - Posts: 913 - 16/03/2015 11:04:48 1703264 Link 0 |

Interesting that many pundits where proclaiming the death of Gaelic football this time last week because the Dubs failed to break down Tyrone's defensive system. Cork, on the other hand, manage to overturn a five point deficit to snatch a win against the same system. Hopefully those same pundits will now laud cork's tactics and admit that Gaelic football is a vibrant game with plenty of tactical variety. football first (None) - Posts: 1259 - 16/03/2015 12:03:33 1703304 Link 0 |
Thomas Clarke. I'd agree, the players whose shooting has let us down the last 2 games is Mattie Donnelly, Sean Cavanagh and Niall Morgan. Strange but true. tyroneed (Tyrone) - Posts: 753 - 16/03/2015 12:56:04 1703334 Link 0 |
Absoloutely chuffed that we won. Possibly a bit of luck Tyrone yesterday. I guess that is sport. It is swings and roundabouts in a sense. We lost (deservedly) to Mayo last August by one point but there were a couple of crucial decisions went against us in the end. Yesterday we got the breaks but we also scored 16 times to Tyrones 12, kept them socreless for a large portion of the game so in a way it was not a fluke. bennybunny (Cork) - Posts: 3917 - 16/03/2015 13:01:06 1703337 Link 0 |
It's worrying how Tyrone can go through long periods of the game without getting a score maybe this is the price to pay for picking hard working half forwards who do so much defensive work. Next fixture against Donegal should suit the way Tyrone are set up and we could win a low scoring game by a couple of points but it's hard to see how far it can take Tyrone in the championship. Were in Bonus terriority. If we can learn from last year mistakes will be flying. Not bad for team in transition blooding Maguire, the O'Driscoll brothers and now Collins and O'Rourke emerging as leaders for us. Throw in we have the 2 best inside forwards in the country atm in O'Neill and Hurley HughHunt24 (Cork) - Posts: 841 - 16/03/2015 15:56:47 1703458 Link 0 |
