Negative tactics and Over training??

(Oldest Posts First)

Was reading an article in the Irish News regarding Benny Coulter
about how negative tactics and the increasing demands on
inter county footballers caused him to fall out of love with
the game.

Should further rule changes be implemented to encourage
attacking play such as having having to keep a set number
of players in the opposition half??

Also are the training demands placed on amateur sportsmen
ethical in the context of GAA administrators creaming the
profits??

You know, in Go Games & other conditioned games for kids you often use cones to mark zones to prevent bunching...defenders going into the other half & forwards from coming back to their own defence. Maybe we should try that!

Thats an old headline in fairness. Is he now referring to club fixtures as well as inter county? surly not!

IT must be a joyless game to play in now all right. But we are all part of the problem. Supporters expectations are through the roof. 4 counties season would be seen as being a disaster if they didnt win Sam. This is win at all costs. How can you expect players to train x2 a week and go out and try to win the all ireland?

ITs not all about the players, and their attitude. It is us more than they.

Strict regulation on players not being allowed to train as a group wont stop them going out and doing their own individual programs.

As for cynicism in the game, this can only be sorted out by strict rules, and consistent enforcement.

1 automatic yellow for diving or over reacting, even if a foul were committed.
2 linesmen and umpires to stop bottling decisions, or lack of them more like.
3 Consistency in extra time awarded at the end of each half, although this would not be an issue if the games were to flow, as they may well do from a few simple rules.
