Is it possible for one or both teams not to turn up, or both teams to play well even if one lose? Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3830 - 17/02/2015 14:29:38 1694370 Link 0 |

Yeah, I think both scenarios are entirely possible. Recent examples of Scenario A would include the 2013 All-Ireland final between Mayo and Dublin, or indeed last September's final between Kerry and Donegal. There have been a few recent classics in which one team had to lose- Mayo v Kerry last year, Dublin v Kerry the year before springing to mind. I think every part of what you said is possible hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 17/02/2015 15:03:28 1694386 Link 0 |
Yeah the 2013 football final was built up as a would be classic with the too most attacking, high scoring teams of that year in the final but as we found out and has happened with big games in other sports it failed to live up to its billing. Neither team played to their full potential but Dublin won't care as a few flashes of class won it for them. If both team played to their full potential, Dublin might (and probably) still have won. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11219 - 17/02/2015 15:44:17 1694406 Link 0 |
Dubs Meath 91. Not only in one match but four games they both had ups and downs, but i think on the whole saga you have to say they both played exceptionally,, same could apply to the Kildare Meath saga , throw in last years Leinster final and you have the opposite of the coin where Meath never got off the bus. Swings and roundabouts, in 99 all ire final think its safe to say cork were over all better on the day but a couple of flash of brilliance and Meath won comfortable, royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 17/02/2015 16:37:35 1694441 Link 0 |
Just remove "under-performing" and put "Mayo" in instead and everyone will understand the thread a lot better. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 17/02/2015 16:48:12 1694446 Link 0 |
