Lads I want your opinion on when your counties leagues should start? In Meath they have put the date as the 1st of February srgt_slaughter (Meath) - Posts: 462 - 22/01/2015 15:31:52 1685524 Link 0 |
srgt_slaughter, In Kildare the Senior football League starts in early to mid march and is run off weekly with free weekends on bank holidays. There are no semi finals with the top two teams going into the final which is played usually late July/early August. The league runs fairly well without postponments except in the case of a breavement, though in the case of a team asking for a postponment say for instance due to players being involved in hurling a game may be put back to midweek, if the opposition manager agrees to it. If the opposition manager does not agree to a postponment for whatever reason the game will go ahead at the originally scheduled time. Managers generally try to accommodate each other as they know that sometime they may well be asking for a postponment at some stage. In order for the competition to be run off on time there will be some midweek games added on wednesday nights when the nights get longer. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 2987 - 22/01/2015 19:14:16 1685630 Link 0 |
No fixtures or in Donegal yet but its usually end of March. February seems a bit early if you didn't know until now but if clubs were aware of this since last year i think it's a good idea if it means finishing earlier. Tir Conaill Abu (Donegal) - Posts: 1671 - 22/01/2015 19:28:35 1685634 Link 0 |
I agree srgt_slaughter. First weekend of february is far too early. Particularly in club I think February should be solely focused on pre season training then maybe begin league in early march. I think our first round is either the 2nd or 3rd weekend of february this year Afinestick (Wexford) - Posts: 999 - 22/01/2015 19:31:07 1685635 Link 0 |
Early April in Antrim and finish sometime in November though that's the cutoff and usually leagues aren't fully completed. Something and brewery spring to mind. Offside_Rule (Antrim) - Posts: 4058 - 22/01/2015 19:56:47 1685645 Link 0 |
