Lads if ye get a chance , watch highlights of yesterdays Dublin county semis. DC has got to be the most talented player in Ireland right now. He is feckin incredible at times. Privilege to be there yesterday Liamwalkinstown (Dublin) - Posts: 8166 - 19/10/2014 10:51:26 1665075 Link 0 |
I'd agree Liam, some will not like it I know but he is best player in country for last couple years. A joy to watch. BallBearing (USA) - Posts: 72 - 19/10/2014 11:22:38 1665080 Link 0 |
Actually went along myself yesterday to watch the games. His talent is not in question. But then that's not generally what crops up when he is being discussed. It's possibly unfair but he's probably stuck with that label now. He'll never have the popularity of other marquee forwards outside of Dublin even if he never picks up a card for the rest of his career. doublehop (Kildare) - Posts: 4172 - 19/10/2014 11:27:03 1665081 Link 0 |
Do you know where we might be able to see them ? but yeah he's doing serious stuff at the moment MonaghanGlory (Monaghan) - Posts: 738 - 19/10/2014 11:46:32 1665084 Link 0 |

Correct Monaghanglory. Fine hurler and if times were different he'd be a dual player , no doubt. BallBearing (USA) - Posts: 72 - 19/10/2014 12:00:52 1665089 Link 0 |
Connolly was simply magnificent yesterday. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13705 - 19/10/2014 12:02:48 1665090 Link 0 |
He's good but he's no Colm Cooper. beir_bua (Kildare) - Posts: 746 - 19/10/2014 12:15:09 1665092 Link 0 |
Class player, a monster of a man, don't know if his parentage heritage, but as the old joke goes, how do spot a dub with culchie parents his over 5 foot 7. kerryrowz (Kerry) - Posts: 833 - 19/10/2014 12:20:58 1665094 Link 0 |
A backhanded complement Kerryrowz. I suppose that's the best could be expected. BallBearing (USA) - Posts: 72 - 19/10/2014 12:39:50 1665099 Link 0 |

Doublehop he earned his reputation to his own actions, his own fault. He is a class footballer however. ros1 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1211 - 19/10/2014 13:22:40 1665113 Link 0 |
Was there myself yesterday. Not too many can bring the gasps of admiration that Diarmuid brought with his contributions yesterday. He was worth the admission fee on his own. He will not win POTY which is a shame because that is exactly what he is. Diarmuid is capable of doing anything and more that JOD can do but there is no way JOD could do half the stuff that Diarmuid does. And Hill bernard has said in many interviews that that's not the way to play football, this is my point on McGuiness great for Donegal but not great for Gaelic football IMO . clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 19/10/2014 13:47:38 1665120 Link 0 |
Class act alright, will not get POTY though as it will go to JOD.Not right call though IMO. 911 (USA) - Posts: 41 - 19/10/2014 14:14:17 1665126 Link 0 |
Two of his points against Donegal (one in the first, one in the second) were as good as have ever been scored. I don't think I'd ever seen scores like that against an on-form Donegal team under McGuinness. MichaelO (Tyrone) - Posts: 820 - 19/10/2014 14:15:42 1665127 Link 0 |
Its a pity in some ways that he is part of such a strong Dublin forward line.and stuck on the wing. If he could have a team built around him where he is the main focal point he would get to show his talents more and I think would go down as one of the best forwards the game ever saw. A joy to watch and can do everything. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 19/10/2014 14:23:50 1665129 Link 0 |
I disliked him for a while, he was way too inconsistent to justify the hyperbole being spouted about him years ago. But my God, he's on a different level these days. He has it all, athleticism, pace, power, guile, awareness, footballing intellect. Now, he's producing 4-5 star performances every game, it must be a nightmare going up against him in club championship I'd say. bob_dolphin (Limerick) - Posts: 694 - 19/10/2014 14:53:32 1665139 Link 0 |
He's a serious player . His performance in the club final on Patricks Day was special . Should have been nominated for Player of The Year this year . Greengrass (Louth) - Posts: 6031 - 19/10/2014 15:31:10 1665154 Link 0 |
