As a kerry man i was delighted to see the kingdom lift Sam this year. However underneath this success lies a growing problem for such countes due to falling family sizes, unemployment and migration . The net result is that many areas in rural kerry and i suspect places like west Cork and clare ( although i shouldn't comment on them) are finding it increasingly difficult to put teams together hence the formation of divsional sides such as east kerry and mid kerry. So yes while we are producing some great players the issues mentioned in the long term are causing the slow death of areas and in turn the footballing factories that used to produce such greats as mick o connell. locky76 (Dublin) - Posts: 11 - 16/10/2014 18:14:25 1664395 Link 0 |
True, its about time the GAA fixed the economy, infrastructure, and social fabric of the west in order to even out the championship. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1639 - 16/10/2014 19:35:38 1664468 Link 0 |
