Would Kerry have won the All Ireland with Gooch?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Would Kerry have won the All Ireland with Gooch? The greatest player of our generation but he has often come up short against Ulster oppostion for club and county. Donegal sure would have kept him in check? His absence gave James O'Donoghue and co more freedom

Listen will you just give this sh*te a rest now will you. Go off and burn a Kerry flag or something you sound like you need a bit of a cathartic release.

As someone who has many cousins in Roscommon and has had some great times up in that wonderful county I can honestly say you attitude towards Kerry is bizarre and doesn't reflect the great respect people I know up there have for kerry.

Ahadee, lads, he's on to us for sure. Fitz only cooked up the crucial figment problem to ease out the small boy, Cooper. He's been a fierce liability for ages. Remember that championship game against the Dubs on the bank holiday Monday a few yerrahs back? There he was flying about making a show of himself. Gooch indeed if you ask me. Sure they give All Stars to anyone... even fellas from the wring side of Donegal!

Eh?? Donegal didn't keep Donaghy or Geaney in check so how do you presume they would have kept Gooch in check, anyway he wasn't there and Kerry won making guesses on such things is kind of irrelevant......

When did they keep him in check?

they would not have made the final, if gouch was fit donaghy would not have played against Mayo and it was Donaghy who beat Mayo

Wild hard to know. If Gooch was on Maybe JOD wouldn't have progressed as well. On the flip side in the final O Donoghue was kept quiet while if Gooch was also there McGee may have been on him and JOD could have had a bigger impact.

Its very hard to know really. I guess next year will maybe tell. Gooch may struggle to get back into that team. The way Kerry played this year wasn't suited to a player like cooper but he is potentially too good to leave out.

Now the question is with all this attacking talent will Kerry stick to what won them SAM, their defensive work.

Handymoran i'd be more concerned about yere county championship rather than your pathetic and unhealthy obsession and envy of all things Kerry and by the way the gooch is one of the best Kerry players to ever grace our honoured jersey and to say he would have been counteractive to winning the all-Ireland is the same as saying that roy keane or paul o Connell would be counteractive in playing for any of there teams, it's easy to know you are not used to success.

Genuine question: I wonder how he or any player out with injury who misses a season feels about collecting an All Ireland medal without having kicked a ball during the campaign?

Just my own view or feeling but if I had 5 AI medals now like Gooch I would always feel there was an astrix beside the 2014 one!.....Like a meath Leinster 2010 medal kinda thing!

Just my thought anyway!

But sure, he wasn't offered a medal and stated even if he was he would refuse to take it.

For god sake man will you read the papers and goochs attitude to same, poorly researched as usual from fluffy wuffy, wait till he gets a hold of the Dubs next year to claim his 5th title.

Rename this thread can kerry win 2015 with gooch and it would be a thousand times more relevant and interesting.

2014 is analyzed to death now. I think that kerry won, did what they needed to do to win it and did it fair and square. Gooch or no gooch. Transition or otherwise. Puke football or early 80s dream team stuff. It shouldnt mater to kerry. It shouldnt mater to us. It is done and dusted and will be forever recorded as a win for kerry. Would dublin have won if connolly got the goal in the 20th minute? Would mayo have beaten kerry if another ref was in charge in limerick? Would kerry have hammered donegal if they got a 2nd goal in the 1st half instead of a point? Many many more would haves. Its actually a form of mental illness this rumination.

More than like if Gooch was playing,Kerry would have beaten Donegal more comfortably.Regards the medal,Gooch knows better than most how hard these medals are to earn.Im sure he wouldnt feel comfortable with a winning medal this year.

Donegalman, good post and you were directly involved ie a Donegalman. I think it was good to get an opinion from Donegal and good luck next year. I also cannot understand this obsession with the Kerry win. They won, it's over. I expect Kerry has moved on and has started planning for 2015. Fair dues to the Gooch (the best GAA player in Ireland as far as I'm concerned) he came out clearly and sad he didn't deserve and wouldn't accept a medal.

Heading into the semi-finals, Kerry were ranked 4th by everyone and there was not a word nor a problem about Kerry in transition and being without the Gooch. We will winter well. Ciarraí abú! ;)

Kerry were not ranked num 4 by everybody. If you check the threads for respective games,i tipped Kerry to beat Mayo, and then to beat Donegal.Due to cashing in on the generous odds available, you are not the only gael thats going to winter well.

Getting very touchy , for someone who dishes it out !!!!!
Back to the question , simple answer n one knows , educated answer yes , how can a quality player make you weaker , but the question isint really about the gooch , it should be would they have started Star where they did and would the same sort of ball be put in on top of him or would everything have come through Gooch on the half forward line ,Answer is we will find out in 2015
