Leinster Unfair advantage??

(Oldest Posts First)

Leinster football semi-finals and final are played in Croke Park. Does this give Leinster counties an unfair advantage heading into the All-Ireland series?

Of course it does, ban the use of Croke Park for everything except All-Ireland Finals!

Clearly it doesn't. Croke Park os an awful place for Leinster semis, especially if your on before a Dubs game.

Yes your correct but sure the Kerry Region wont be worrying about Leinster next year. They will be peaking for end of August with the way the draw is.

Well the Carlow Region and the Wicklow Region rarely get to play in a Leinster Region Final so for them if they got to play there it would be an advantage over a team like Galway Region, Kerry Region or Armagh Region who might have come out of the Connaught Region, Munster Region and Ulster Region Finals respectively. I would be interested to know how teams like London Region and New York Region who come from the UK Region and USA Region respectively would get on in the All Ireland Region Series and whether they should have to go through Europe Region and North America Region qualifiers and maybe then an Planet Earth Region qualifier before they got to play in the All Ireland Region Series as there are many good teams now coming through from Seberia Region and Abu Dhabi Region these days!
Interesting!

There is actually one interesting point in that. I think a qualifying tournament featuring New York and other teams such as Amsterdam would be a good idea. This would give the teams competitive games with the carrot being a place in the Connaught championship.

Ps this is obviously a wind up tread.

PS about time the Dublin Region got a home game. Parnell Park is vacant all summer. Well said legend

Legend ..... you may possibly have a point but I would not say Leinster has an advantage because most of the counties competing during latter stages have experience of Croker. Where you could argue is when a county with no recent previous success such as Armagh prior to 1999 arriving in Croke Park for a big All Ireland Semi Final against a team who play all their matches there. There is excitement to be there but the huge stage may effect some younger players. With Armagh it took them until the next year to show there true ability in croke park with two and a half epic games with Kerry and from there croker held no fears but it took time.

That's not the worst idea in the world. Its capacity makes more sense than Croke Parks. If a GAA match can be played to Ravenhills dimensions why not the Aviva or RDS?

The Leinster seeding has their provincial semi-finalists in a good position ahead of the All-Ireland series. 3 of the 4 semi-finalists are 1 game from Croke Park. Make the Leinster final and you have 2 games under your belt at GAA HQ.

Aviva pitch is obviously far too small to hold any GAA match.

Grenades are quickly thrown at the Dublin Region for games in Croker but a blind eye then to their Leinster semi-finalist rivals. All about balance, fairness and the importance of wintering well! ;)

Following conversation there with cuederocket, are Leinster counties ok with the seeding system ye have in place? I'm only asking the question now before I get shot down! Leinster's business at the end of the day how ye set ye're selves up.

Munster's seeding this year was similar to ye're own. Ye seed semi-finalists and they avoid each other prior to the semi-finals. Kerry and Cork were similarly seeded to avoid each other but at the final due to 6 in the province.

For next year, a seeding chance came in that could have seen Kerry draw Cork in a semi-final and the other 4 counties then get drawn on the other side of the draw. Is it something Leinster might consider? While the semi-finalists get a bye to the quarter-finals, should the quarter-final draw be an open draw where the 4 seeded semi-finalists could possibly get drawn in the two quarter-finals on the one side of the draw? As I say, I'm only asking the question and putting it out there.
