Barry John Keane - Bad Form

Disgraceful act by the player. Sadly it's becoming too common acts like this at the end of big matches.

Shuuuuuussshh! Kerry GAA people don't do these sort of things didn't you know? Are you sure it wasn't Sean Cavanagh or one of those other rough cynical Tyrone types who put a Kerry top on and sneaked on to the pitch?

The respect that players have for the spirit of sport has been slipping for sometime and the act you mention was just another example. What we need to happen is for all supporters to say it is wrong. What has been happening is that many people say it is the professional thing to do, an example of streetwise footballers etc. As Kerry people tend to be among the most sporting and fair-minded I would expect they would agree that it was unnecessary and wrong. Similarly the Kerry footballer who pretended he was injured late in the game, only for the referee and linesman to tell him to have some respect and get up.

Yeah he is a bit of a fool alright. Had to laugh at the placard from the Kerry fan at the end of the game about Kerry keeping the flame alive for proper football or whatever

It was an absolute disgrace to do that, there are other ways to waste some time, but to do what Barry John did was nothing short of a disgrace. We want games played in a sporting manner, but that is hateful to see. The game is better off without players who do that sort of thing, and in my opinion it should warrant a black card, its the only way to eradicate and punish this sort of time wasting.

Totally agree with you, it was a disgrace and I know his grandfather the great John Dowling would have probably rolled in his grave when he did it.

It nearly cost us as well as I think the ref gave Donegal an extra chance, as most refs would do given the stupid action.

It was a moment of madness. It actually topped off what was a brutal game of football.. Thank god we have hurling because games like today make football a terrible game to watch. I once loved the game but its getting worse.

Well done Mitchelsontour, first Kerry poster in and you condemn the stupid act. If only we could see this from supporters in some other counties then the game would be in a much better state, and we would be enjoying much more entertaining All-Ireland finals. Instead we hear about media conspiracies etc, supporters are as much to blame as players.

There are many things in this world that can be termed disgraceful. This is not one of them! Harsh. Harsh. Harsh. "not very sportsmanlike" thats about as harsh I can be on this one.

The kicking the ball of the tee was disgraceful. No more to be said.

Its a problem that has crept into the game - delaying and frustrating the opposition by holding onto the ball, kicking the ball away or delaying giving the ball for a free to be taken. The referee did today respond to some of Kerry's delaying tactics by advancing the ball.
It's a pity that Barry John did what he did.
Lets hope that all condemn the act - not the player- and lets work to ensuring it does not happen again.

Yes this was a awful act of un sportsmanship. Kevin McLoughlin did this in they league against Dublin. No place for it in amateur sport

BJK must have been watching the Donegal v Dublin minor game and got a couple of tips

A Donegal player ran off with a tee delaying a Dublin kickout close to stoppage time

Karma wha!!!

I was happy to see the Donegal minors lose today

I have told yiz enough times... Kerry are as cynical as it comes

Please to see the Kerry man condemn this. Many other counties have done it too. Dublin in the 2012 final and Louth against Meath in 2010. Kerry at the end against Mayo were bad in the semi this year.

Things like that need to be a red card and a 3 match ban next season. The rules weren't enforced today at all. I for one would hate to be a player in that type of match. More like Rugby league than Gaelic. Thank god for the hurling.

It was terrible alright. Murphy did the same thing against Mayo in '12 so it seems what goes around comes around. In the meantime the standards of decency and fair play decline.

yea. thought that was terrible. did the ref book him or anything. i suppose not the ref didn't really control the game. as the pundits say "he is letting the game flow". in other words he is not implementing the rules.

perhaps the rulebook could be changed. if an opposition player interferes with the ball after its placed on the tee then 14 metre free is awarded

People really need to cool the jets and get some perspective here - he didn't hurt anyone, he didn't foul anyone, it wasn't the winning or losing of the game. If I was playing a match and was in the same position as Kerry and was in Keane's shoes I'd have done the same and I'd expect a team mate to do the same. You do what you have to do to close out the game.

At the end of the day, it was a poor enough game. Some of the wides, tactics, refereeing decisions, shot selections etc; were abysmal.
Kerry saw where Dublin went wrong against Donegal and didn't make the same mistakes, Donegal obviously thought they had done enough by beating Dublin.
