Will Pat Spillane call it as it is?

Sometimes you have to meet fire with fire or puke with puke. The difference is Kerry can dump the puke and pay football when required.

You've got to play puke against puke. Dublin had to do it in 2011 and succeeded but tried to play football against it 3 weeks ago and look what happened. Kerry were not going to be as stupid as Dublin. They out-Donegaled Donegal. That's what you've go to do to beat 'the system'. Fair play to them!

Lets hope the media deal with that game with the honesty they treated Armagh, Tyrone, and Donegal with when they won all-irelands, footballing folk in Kerry and there are many of them should hang their heads in shame today, the most cynicle of all those teams, against Mayo and again today

Kerry played exact same way as Donegal play. Once they got the goal lead and were 3 points up they were never going to lose it. Exact same would have happened had Donegal being a goal up. In fairness, if Donegal had went man to man Donegal would have being bet out the gate. Congrats to Kerry, they done what had to be done to win, and if it was Mayo in that situation I'd be delighted with the lads.

Saw a Kerry fan holding a banner saying "football beats the system. keepers of the flame" !!

Gimme a break, Kerry were as negative as Donegal today. Not saying it was right or wrong, they did what they had to do, but I sometimes wish Kerry fans weren't so self righteous about their football.

"You've got to play puke against puke."

So "puke" football is the way forward and every county should practice and play it? Because all other ways of playing football are futile if up against "puke" football.

So it would seem cockney cat. The game has an inherant flaw in the first place given that puke can somehow win matches.

Both teams played defensively. The difference was Kerry actually tried to attack when they had the ball. Donegal only tried to play when they went 3-4 points down. If Durcan could kick the ball out Donegal would have one but Kerry deserved it.

Yes that's it. Have you got evidence to the contrary? It is more effective to play puke against puke than to attempt to play a more open system. Brolly was saying that this type of football is 'infesting Ulster' and that Kerry's adoption of it is effectively an endorsement. If he's correct then God help us is all I can say! Still some people apparently find this stuff 'intriguing'.

An awful game but if Kerry where playing Dublin in that final they would not have played that type of game. Kerry are versatile enough to vary it. I bet the kerry team that evolves from this will perfect team play styles and be able to switch within any given game switch from different types of football. Thats where this is going and it will evolve, but watching this awful transition is close to unbearable.

To be fair to him, he probably didn't know that Kerry were going to play the way they did today. He should have climbed a tree.

Kerry set their stall out early in the championship with the demolition of Cork in what was a great attacking football display. However they now seem to believe that to beat the defensive Ulster teams you simply have to set up in the same way as them - and todays result seems to prove them correct. What is amusing for all that like attacking football is how easy Kerry found it to copy and better Donegals system, something we have been told Donegal have perfected after 4 years of incredible attention to detail. The truth is defensive football is not very complicated and it does not require great footballers to carry it out - proper attacking football requires excellent footballers.

What will the Kerry football purists have to say now.?

Looking forward to hearing Spillane's view on Kerry's system and tactics today. :o)

I should be old enough and wise enough not to comment on threads like this, but my god, what a load of rubbish. Teams from Ulster who win All-Irelands can only do so with puke football (ignoring the 3-14 Donegal scored in the semi, 2012, and the wonderful performances given by Tyrone in the last decade). But when Kerry do it, they were forced to play an ultra cynical game. Give me a break. Kerry fully deserved their win today, and congrats to them. But I will never again accept a comment about negative play from Ulster teams from Spillane or anyone else. Still extremely proud of Donegal, they fell short today, but they gave everything in their performance
