Punter puts 121k on Donegal!

(Oldest Posts First)

Surprised the bookie in question took the bet. They once refused me 500 on an even money NFL handicap bet!

By the way, he stands to win 88k, not 209k as the story claims.

Did the story not say a return on 209? That is not winning.

But in relation to the punter in question, he is one of 2 things.
1.) A nutter who has put his life savings on it. 121k(why the odd number)
2.) Someone who has a clean fortune and can afford to do this.

If he's number 1 I hope for his sake they win

I'm pretty sure he'll be paid out €209k... €121+€88k being €209.....!!!!

I think what they mean is his €121k + €88k winnings add up to €209k

I think he's stupid to be honest. Most people calling it to close to pick an winner but i guess thats why its called gambling

Catchincrows, he stands to win 88,000, not 209,000.

Wish I was your bookie :-)

I'd be a bit sceptical to be honest given the particular firm's notorious reluctance to lay big bets, or even not so big bets as in my case! Only possible reason might be that they have cleaned up with Dublin and Mayo having gone out and have a few quid to risk.

As for the bet in question, I would say there are safer 8/11 shots this weekend!

should have covered himself in case of a draw to get back 8000 less, draw no bet was 4/6,if game is a draw both teams will probably be 10/11 the next day, hope they win but I have a feeling Kerry will do it

As a keen punter for over 20 years, this is a very risky bet.Cant see the value in it.Didnt even cover the draw, just in case.Brave man all the same.Hope he has enough toilet roll in for the second half.

Could be Joey Barton. The 121,000 euro is equivalant to 100,000 pounds sterling.

Your stake is seen as a winning as you can't get it back unless you win.
'He stands to win 209,000' is the correct term

No serious punter sees their stake as part of their winnings Superglue.
