Your county's cult hero?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Who's yours?

Padraig Brogan for me. Scored one of the best goals scored in Croke Park. Battled the demon drink. A first cousin of Bernard Brogan snr. Also played for Donegal. I think he played senior inter-county when he was 17, someone please confirm. A legend.

Frank McGuigan captained Tyrone at 19 to Ulster title in 1973 for the first time in 16 years. Tyrone were next to win Ulster in 1984 when McGuigan scored 11 points from play against Armagh. In my opinion only Peter Canavan could match the natural talent McGuigan had.

Micky Quinn.

The only sober one to get off the bus in 94 in our town, the last one in Leitrim. Not the most imposing looking of men, but boy could he field ball.

Ciarán Whealan maybe?

Soldiered away during the bad days and wasn't shy in punching a Meath man or two. That's heroic in anyone's eyes.

Cluxton was already a cult hero before his heroics in 2011 and 2013 too.

Kev Mc is probably on his way to cult hero status for his various interventions over the last few years!
