Very sad news from the Wee County that probably the greatest player ever to wear the red shirt of Louth has announced his retirement today. He was captain of the Louth team since 2010. He was also captain of his club St Pats when they won the Louth championship in 2007.
All the best Paddy. Your a legend!

He will be a massive loss. One of the best midfielders of the last decade and a truly inspirational player when on form.

Absolutely super player.
One of my favourite players of the last decade without a doubt.
Massive loss to Louth and the GAA public in general.
All the best Paddy!

Best of look to him , a fine player indeed. He will be missed by Louth.
Pity he didn't get his Leinster medal as he should have if not for the farce of 2010 final.

agree with Ollie about Paddy being one of Louth's best ever. often saw him play a senior intercounty match the way a stand-out juvenile plays an underage game; he just seemed to be good at doing everything on the pitch. hopefully he'll enjoy the rest of the club career. best of luck to him.

This came out of the blue as a total suprise to me, undoubtedly Louth's best player who deserves the praise being lavished on him today, a loss for Louth and football in general.

It's no major shock, I spoke to a good friend of his earlier in the year who said it could be his last.
He is a class act ,all the luck in the world to him..the Delaney cup in 2010 was his to lift but sport is cruel sometimes.

Never heard a bad work said about Paddy Keenan. Not even from supporters of the local rivals in Cooley. His goal line last gasp block against Meath in 2010 will live long in the memory. A class act alright!

What a player. Paddy gave everything for Louth from the first O'Byrne cup game to the last qualifier game. He was always the first name on the team sheet and would walk onto any team yet he never took a winter off or left for the sun in June. For 12 years he gave us everything he had and left us with some great memories. In the leinster semi in 2010 we were minutes away from our first final in 50 years and we started to lose concentration, we had the work done but it looked like Westmeath might steal it, then Paddy got on the ball and calmed everyone down, without his leadership in those final minutes I don't think we would have got to the final. The match winning block at the end of the 2010 leinster final was one that would be hanging on the walls of homes throughout Louth if it hadn't been for one bad refereeing decision. He gave so many exceptional performances like against Tyrone in 2006 and Kildare in 2011 not mention last year with a bandaged head and we had some great league wins in 2006 and 2011 and the qualifier run in 2007 . Thanks for your services Paddy, Louth gaels are forever in your debt.
