GAA videos from the past

(Oldest Posts First)

Would anyone else agree that games covered by RTE or whoever from previous years should be available online somewhere? I know if they were, you might need to pay to watch them but it's awful that there are so many great games from the past and GAA fans have no way of being able to re-watch them and maybe relive some great memories.

I'm not sure who owns the rights to these games (I know there were games on YouTube that aren't there now so obviously someone is removing them) but surely it would be a great idea if they were available to buy online somewhere.

Great idea. There must be an archive of all these games somewhere. RTE could do a year by year series of recorded matches- like reeling in the years. Don't know when RTE started recording provincial matches though. I think its mostly Croke Park matches they have from the black and white days

Can't believe they haven't done it already, but then again, it's RTE we're talking about!

Just yesterday I got a mad urge to watch the 2007 semi final between Kerry and Dublin, one of the best games I've seen. All I could find was a blurry 2 minute clip on youtube. The idea of a GAA reeling in the years or a "GAA Gold" showing classic matches would be hugely popular.

Some guy on youtube a few years ago uploaded a serious amount of gaa videos including full matches but his account was deleted - I think because he was also posting ice hockey matches - I have a feeling that's what got him in trouble. Bit irritating. There isn't much footage of matches played this year on youtube which is a shame as well.

I'd love to see re-runs of old matches, I particularly enjoyed when TG4 had the All-Ireland Gold series. Is that still running?

Its a bit ridiculous that there is no way of easily viewing these online, whether through the official GAA website or a youtube channel. The fact that current videos are being taken down is an absolute joke, whats the harm in it, particularly if they cant be accessed elsewhere.

If I ever get round to it, I'd love to put online the numerous videos of Donegal games the family recorded over the years. Also have a few end of year videos RTE used to put together.

@ Pete

TG4 are still showing the All Ireland Gold series. Wednesday night they showed the 2011 All Ireland football final.
