couldnt class it a shock
between them they have shared the last 3 all ireland titles
how can a team that won the all ireland two years ago beating a team who won it last year be construed as a shock

We will probably see the return of 51 and moomoo who both retired after last years semi and final respectively.

I was too young to remember 1992 but from what I hear all Dublin had to do was show up and Donegal ambushed them. Way different this time, Donegal won the All Ireland in 2012 and are still a top team in my opinion so while a Donegal win may come as a surprise to many I wouldn't call it a major shock if they beat the dubs.

Im hoping for a Donegal win, no one likes to see a team win back to back all irelands. Its not what a neutral wants to see for sure. It will be a great game of two contrasting styles, Donegal will not be easily beaten. I would say both teams are on a level playing field when it comes to strength and fitness. This is something Dublin has not been used to, to play a team equal to them on the fitness front. Donegal will harry, frustrate and counter attack the life out of Dublin... Donegal by two points

It would be a massive surprise, but I wouldnt be totally shocked. you are looking at a team that really works as a unit, and have been together for a long time now playing the system. If the weather is bad, then I would say we have some hope, albiet a small chance.

1992 was not a shock for us. It may have been a shock for Dublin and many other counties, but our team in 1992 had won 2 all ireland u21s in the previous decade, and had stuck together through a hell of a lot. We beat the 1993 all ireland winners in the ulster final that year. If there was complacency going into that game on behalf of dublin, then it was no shock they lost to be honest.

Probably bigger, im sure dublin weren't 1/10 in 92.

I personally would be absolutely flabbergasted and would have to rethink a lot of presumptions on GAA if Donegal won.

Too young to remember 1992 but it wouldn't be a huge shock for Donegal to win this. Its only 2 years ago they were All Ireland champions. Yes they were poor last year but that happens to All Ireland winners a lot. Remember Dublin in 2012?

I expect Dublin to win but would not be blown away with shock if Donegal win.

People are believing the media hype too much?

Was on the Hill as a 16 year old in 92.It was the last time i ever shed a tear at a match. The whole county seemed to get carried away leading upto the game.Donegal ran out deserving winners.I wouldnt be shocked if Donegal managed to beat us on Sunday.Life has thought me to expect the unexpected at times. If we play to the standard we can,i see us reaching another final.

If Donegal beat Dublin we will need all the lads from Master Chef and possibly the Great Irish Bake Off for the amount of humble pie that will be needed...better start making a few calls now.

Hill, I don't think itd be a major shock either i do agree with you, But Donegal are serious odds to beat us. And alot of Donegal fans on the thread RE: the games on here are very downbeat about their chances thats why i ask the question.

I'm only asking the question, I'm not saying it would.

I also expect Dublin to win, I will be shocked if Donegal beat us, But not too shocked.

By the way its not really hype, We are what we are and as we stand now, We are the best team in the country and its up to other teams to knock us off that top spot. Wether they do or not time will tell.

If anything there is actually VERY LITTLE hype around this game in Dublin. It's just another semi-final. Ultimately it'll be a failure unless we win.

It would be a catastrophe for Gaelic Football and a very bad advert for our game. Atha Cliath Abu........reprsent all thats good and positive about the game and excellent example for young kids in terms of skill and how the game should be played....

Dublin are a very good side no argument but I'm getting kinda sick of these sort of comments.
Does that example include the rugby tackling and dragging late on in last years all ireland final or what about the brawl at the end of the Meath game this year?!

Correct they are very good indeed. It is hardly going to be a meltdown in the world of gaa if donegal happen to win. Dublin would come back next year and thereafter, i doubt they would have changed their game plan on the back of it. One thing is for sure, if donegal dont play it tight dublin will wallop us. We have got to put on a defensive masterclass, and if that is looked on as a catastrophe, I can live with it. what the game cant live with is any one team coming out and walloping their opposition by 10-16 points plus each time. There will be less and less going to games every year. Is it up to the field to match dublin? of course it is, but you can only work with what you have.

I fail to see how in any persons language that the 2012 winners beating the 2013 winners could be construed as a shock. Both these sides have all Ireland pedigree and will fancy their chances.

This thread is yet another example of the over inflated idea that's been put out there that this Dublin team are far ahead of the rest. I'll reserve judgement until I see the evidence of that as to date in the championship those teams we have beaten were those I fully expected us to beat.

Getting sick of these lazy comments also! Time to give it a rest! A catastrophe for Dublin maybe but a catastrophe for Gaelic Football? Get a bit of perspective young lad and stop following the herd!

If Donegal beat Dublin this year it will be a shock, but not a huge shock considering the good players Donegal have and their experience over the past few years.

But, I predict that if Donegal do beat us, they still wont be Mayo in the final for SAM.
