Is who you know still an issue at IC level?

(Oldest Posts First)

You would think politics and who you know are a thing of the past when you consider how much the game has evolved with fitness, professional approach etc. in recent years at intercounty level. Every dog on the street knows it exists at club level. We have all seen the coach giving his son or chairmans son a game despite how useless he is.

Do people still think this exists at inter-county?

Well we all know Cork is a different animal, so maybe go to the Cork forum for answers.

Floops,

wasn't a major off-the-field incident in Dublin swept under the carpet due to the manager at the time having some useful connections??

Maybe not for the starting 15 or normally used 25 but it comes into play on the fringe players from 25-35 (basically the squad fillers)

In Mayo the squad fillers are generally from south Mayo under James Horan. They were from East Mayo under John O Mahony and North Mayo under John Maughan.

Would have to agree 100% on that

I don't see any room for that in the current Dublin set up, but I'm pretty sure it's happened before over the years!
