Do the Ulster All Stars include games played by Ulster teams in the qualifiers as well or just within the Ulster Championship???

If it does include games outside the Ulster Championship why would they not wait until the All Ireland Series is over and take the quarter finals/semi-finals and possibly final into account??

Just trying to clarify the voting criteria, as it seems a bit unclear to me

Rory Beggan - Head and shoulders ahead of the rest

Andy Mallon
Drew Wylie
Neil McGee

Vinny Corey
Karl Lacey
Ciaran McKeever - Personally would have given this to Mark Shields if he was nominated

Darren Hughes
Odhran MacNiallas

Ryan McHugh
Kevin Dyas
Dermot Malone - Would have given this to McGuinness

Tony Kernan
Stefan Campbell
Conor McManus

Young player of the year - Aaron Findon
Player of the year - Finding it hard to pick one.

Not afraid to admit I was a bit biased for some of these calls. Hard to make much of a case for any players inclusion outside Donegal, Monaghan and Armagh.

Handballref I think it is primarily the Ulster Championship
that is considered but also performances in the qualifiers.

The awards are presented on the 4th September so the All
Ireland final will definitely not be taken into account.

It is the 20th season the awards are being presented I
didnt think they were going that long.

Cheers RedAndBlack. Was just curious as last year four Tyrone players made it into the team after being knocked out of Ulster in their first game. Donegal got to an Ulster final and all their players were overlooked. Players like Colm McFadden who had 2 belters of games in the Ulster Championship against Tyrone and Down that seemed to have been forgotten about. I suppose it's the people who vote for it though..

Although looking at that I've picked 6 Monaghan men and 6 Donegal men so my Monaghan bias is obviously showing - McManus and Murphy in the FF line lucky to get picked but options not great which goes to show that no one inside forward has really excelled from Ulster so far

Found it very difficult to pick a half back line, Lacey/Mckeever or Thompson all could have been picked. Have went with the 3 Monaghan men though who each have had excellent campaigns.

Is the idea of picking an all-star team a bit outdated now with the modern style of football? A player could justifiably claim to be, for example, the best right-corner forward in the province 20 years ago when everyone had a similar idea of what a corner forward should be, but each of the 9 right-corner forwards in the modern game probably have an entirely different job to do. I would say Rory Beggan has scored more in the Ulster championship than 4 forwards combined in many posters selected 15.

Yikes! Don't say that on any of the non-Ulster forums!! The fact that you are probably right will incense the blue-tinted army even more!

Frank McGlynn not nominated? I guess they judged his season on one slip. The half back line is the hardest to pick, not too many outstanding forwards.
