Surprised there's no thread on this already. I'm really looking forward to this game its so evenly matched its hard to call. Tipp have have a fantastic year already beating Longford and Laois and losing out to Cork by a score. They have built on that under age success they have had and its now showing at senior they have some quality forwards who would make it onto any senior team in Ireland and I can see them troubling the Galway full back line all day Saturday. As for Galway they are in the same position as they were in last year and they need to build on it if no it has been a bad year for them with little improvement. Armstrong needs to start in close to goal as well as James Kavanagh a bit more out the pitch if they want to win. I think Tipp will shade it by 2 points the next day but only after a few tough battle. Jackos_Wacko (Kerry) - Posts: 417 - 24/07/2014 20:44:02 1625590 Link 0 |
Could be an excellent game, plenty of attacking talent on show with young, enthusiastic footballers. Very hard to call a winner though. Soma (UK) - Posts: 2630 - 24/07/2014 21:25:53 1625616 Link 0 |
Galway will have to be favourites but would be a massive boost for Tipp to win this. It's a huge game for the county. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 25/07/2014 08:23:57 1625637 Link 0 |
Well as it's getting closer I'm getting more concerned. Tipps footballers have really come on in leaps and bounds. I think for both teams this is a huge game. From a Galway pov a win, back in a quarter final after a relatively successful Connacht campaign would be a decent showing. Again rumours are rife of trouble in camp, players walking then coming back. Not ideal preparation for one of our biggest games in about 5/6 years but that's the way it goes. We have to start well, get some early scores and build on it like the Sligo game. tribeinbrum (Galway) - Posts: 4155 - 25/07/2014 09:40:26 1625668 Link 0 |
I hope Tipp do the business and our great season continues. All fairy tales must come to an end and at this moment I think Galway may have that bit of extra know how to win games this business end of the championship. Some fine players in that team and with a little more composure they could have been more closer to Mayo. Galway made some changes to their team and it actually looks a lot stronger than it did against Mayo. WildPundit (Tipperary) - Posts: 1709 - 25/07/2014 10:31:35 1625693 Link 0 |
The very best of luck to our young braves tomorrow night. They have worn Tipp football jersey that has a better heritage than it's given credit for with great pride all year, right from the start of the league. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 25/07/2014 11:08:36 1625717 Link 0 |
Whatever happens tomorrow, it has been a hugely successful year for us. I feel if we play to our potential I feel we can nick this, the one big y for me is with all Galway's under 21 success surely it will all fall into place one day. Unfortunately there will be a very small tipp support there tomorrow, with the hurlers out Sunday people won't go to both. tipp11 (Tipperary) - Posts: 353 - 25/07/2014 11:20:43 1625727 Link 0 |

I'm in a similar situation to tribeinbrum, getting a wee bit nervous about this match. Tipp have been doing really well recently whilst Galway are making very steady progress (almost geological pace to be honest). Wests_Awake (Galway) - Posts: 877 - 25/07/2014 11:55:52 1625758 Link 0 |
Galway have talented young players and the potential to develop into a good side. Tipp have momentum, they are playing well and I fancy them to win. Big game for both sides NorthKildare (Kildare) - Posts: 197 - 25/07/2014 12:09:16 1625767 Link 0 |

The will to win will decide the outcome and best of luck to A.M. and the Galway squad, Gaillimh Abu suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1662 - 25/07/2014 12:19:31 1625778 Link 0 |
Its hard to believe there is even a debate on who will win a football match between Galway and Tipp. It show us how far Tipp have come or how much Galway have regressed. ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1566 - 25/07/2014 12:53:01 1625802 Link 0 |
Have not seen much of either side but I think Galway will win narrowly. Byanthon (Tyrone) - Posts: 1780 - 25/07/2014 12:57:54 1625807 Link 0 |
I'd say this will be a very entertaining game, best of luck to both teams. I've nothing against Galway, but would love to see Tipp progress. bloodandbandage (Cork) - Posts: 266 - 25/07/2014 13:33:02 1625825 Link 0 |
Having seen us play London in Ruislip and both Sligo and Mayo on tv...what stands out is Galway are still "too nice"! The selection last night makes us even nicer with the dropping off Hoare and Comer and that probably means we won't have the physicality to beat Tipp (they play a more modern style). I wish it were otherwise but we can't play Galway style football these days and win. The management haven't really taken the physical nature of todays game on board although it's a credit to them we are still playing lovely football. Hope I'm wrong but know we'll struggle taking the hits tomorrow. Flaherty (UK) - Posts: 116 - 25/07/2014 13:33:19 1625827 Link 0 |
there is definitely a perforamnce inus such is the talent coming through but hard to know if we can bounce back from the last day. if we were to scrape through tomorrow maybe we could unleash it at hq as underdogs. on tipp itis vital irrespective of tomorrow that they win munster in the next year or two. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1941 - 25/07/2014 21:59:56 1626032 Link 0 |
expanding on my previous post I recall a great limerick team missing out on munster 10 years ago so hopefully whatever happens today this tipp team can break the kerry cork monopoly. fro our perspective great to see joss moore back as he was badly missed in the connacht final. joss was a fine u21 when we won the u21 all ireland in 2011. kiloughter (Galway) - Posts: 1941 - 26/07/2014 08:11:24 1626035 Link 0 |
Right then. Apart from anyone from Galway, the rest of the country want tipp to win. We have to rip into them from the start. Get the ball into the forwards quick and pile on!!!! It's our biggest game in a long time!!!! C'MON THE TRIBES!!! UP GALWAY!!!! tribeinbrum (Galway) - Posts: 4155 - 26/07/2014 12:26:01 1626082 Link 0 |
